Adore the series - Had to own the first volume!
Devils and Realist is a series about William Twining - an intelligent realist with high ideas - who discovers that he is not only a descendant of Solomon. But also tasked with choosing a substitute to be the ruler of hell. It's a great series, a lovely mix of action and comedy. With each page turn there is always something new to smile at or get caught up in. Cannot wait till the others also are published!

'Well, go ahead and choose me.'
This is a fun and exciting introduction to a supernatural series. I can recommend this to anyone looking for a new manga with fantasy, action and humour. It is rated 16+, though in this volume there is only mild violence. The plot has an interesting take on demons and deals. Our protagonist is William Twining, a sassy teenaged academic who has just found out that he has been placed in financial trouble and has literally nothing to use to pay his school tuition fees. During his attempt to solve this predicament, he is met by a devil, Dantalion the Grand Duke of Hell, who tells William that he seeks his vote in an election to find the replacement leader of Hell. Unfortunately for Dantalion, William is a firm believer of science who refuses to vote or even acknowledge that devils exist. In this volume, I found the characters to be likeable and a group I'd like to find out more about. The cast is small (at least so far), with everyone getting a steady introduction. William is stubborn and narcissistic, but ends up being amusing rather than annoying because these traits are played for comedy and I found his interactions with Dantalion entertaining. Dantalion himself is an engaging character, open yet mysterious at the same time, and often has moments of being innocently funny. You might enjoy this series if you like:- Quirky artwork.- An episodic structure to the plot.- Stories that are quick to establish their fictional world and the plotline.- Comedy, especially of the offbeat variety. Lots of silliness and gentle parody to be found here.- Vibrant characters with flashy designs; okay, anyone who actually looked like Sytry in Victorian England would have a hard time fitting in, but it's stylised and fun. This is also a series where the cast are a good-looking group.- Romantic hints here and there. This series might not be for you if you dislike:- Series that bear a number of similarities to others. It has been mentioned by several reviewers that Devils and Realist has a Black Butler and Pandora Hearts vibe, which can't be denied, with a supernatural Victorian England setting, smart orphaned teenagers and charming demons willing to protect them to obtain what they want. However, this is a more light-hearted piece than BB and PH.- Artwork that is a little rougher than either of the above.- Characters that are based on real people or religious figures, if it makes you uncomfortable.

Why yes this is certainly a peculiar story *sips tea*
(Makai Ouji) Devils and Realist volume 1 contains chapters 1 to 5 plus author and artist notes and some bonus 4-koma.It is rated Older Teen (16+).This story follows William Twining, a young man who is part of a well established family but after his uncle goes bankrupt, he is left struggling to pay his school tuition. William is the realist in this story, he believes that there is a scientific reason for everything and things like ghosts and supernatural beings do not exist. One day he accidentally summons a demon but that is still not enough to make him believe in their existence. Suddenly all these demons start appearing in front of him and he finds out that he may be more special than he thought.I LOVE all manga that is set in England, their names and their British way of talking are hilarious to me. But this English-set story is written quite well. I'm already a fan of the artist, she did the art for the Uta no Prince-sama manga and for some anthologies I've read so of course I would love the art in this. The guys are all good-looking and the battle scenes are easy to follow.I would recommend this manga to fans of shoujo and supernatural stories (Black Butler?)

Its okay
Its okay, the story is okay so far. Artwork is great and so are the character designs, it had so much potential to be a shounen-ai but oh well, I'm just gonna read all the volumes till the end waiting for Dantalion to finally confess he loves William lmao. Other than that, its best to search up a little demonology regarding King Solomon and his 72 pillars before starting to read this book. The characters in the above image are Dantalion and King Solomon, left to right respectively.

Tomar temas bíblicos siempre me emociona :). Los demonios y ángeles presentan rasgos humanos: ambos llenos de amor, odio, envidia, dolor, inseguridades...etc.El manga presenta momentos bastante cómicos y escenas con un toque yaoi/shonen ai; nada fuerte.

Great Start and Nice BL Undertones
Devils and Realist (which was adapted into an anime last year) follows the path of various rulers in the underworld as they try to gain the position of the next leader there. In order to do so they must be elected or selected by the descendant of Solomon, which in this case is, William Twining the lead character. Its a wonderful plot that leads to some nice magic use, great friendship and bonding of his friends in his school dorm, as well as some of the ones that come to win his favor, and even some other comedy associated with WIlliam being a realist and struggling to accept magic and this other world, and just clashing personalities or over the top moments the writer takes characters through. Its a great new manga for our English market and one that we should be glad its picked up. For people interested in action and some comedy it is a nice alternative to picking up traditional long running action series from other authors. Look into it.Extras really only included author commends, and information moments on a few characters. There is also a gorgeous colour page.
