Supplemental learning book, huge amounts of information
This book is packed with information. It's great as a reference guide for looking up conjugations, but not many example sentences so this is definitely to be used as a supplement to other books or learning tools. The romanizations are great, too if you can't read Korean (though I highly recommend learning Hangul so you can read in Korea or Korean restaurants!)

Brilliant Layout BUT Romanization is Disruptive
This is a very good book, but it has some flaws which keeps me from giving it 5 stars. I had difficulty locating the Downloadable files that was advertised with this book. I found where it was. For anyone interested, the direct links are here:Audio Files: ftp://website:[email protected]/basickoreanverbs.zipSupplemental Material: ftp://website:[email protected]/500BKV.zipIn the audio files, there is a file for every word in the book. Each file The person reads 1) The word and 2) The sample sentences at the bottom of the page. I really appreciate the detail that went into creating an audio file for each and every word. What I LOVE:The layout for each word is put into a very understandable and useful grid which I found it to be absolutely brilliant! I've personally never seen anything like it. It's such a handy one page snapshot of every possible form of a particular word/verb. For this reason, I have added this to my "Essential" book list. However, the are two things that I feel take away from the book.1) This is alphabetized in English, not Korean. This makes it confusing when I'm trying to look up a word. For anyone studying Korean, it's hard when you have some reference books alphabetized in Korean and then others in English. There should be a universal rule that has Korean words alphabetized in KOREAN....not in English. Not only is it confusing, it doesn't give the Learner the opportunity to learn alphabetization. Page 507 has a Korean index that is alphabetized correctly in Korean - I wish the rest of the book could be this way.2) What is even more disturbing is all the Romanization. It just adds additional noise which doesn't need to be there, especially since the supplemental audio files are available. The space used for Romanization could have been better used simply increasing the font size. I think Romanization might be helpful for a phrase book, but for this type of book it becomes very distracting and doesn't allow me to clearly focus on the actual words (in Hangul).I feel because of these two very disturbing points, I can't give it complete 5 stars - but is really is an exceptional book.

Excellent book
I definitely love the book. AND I DEFINITELY APPRECIATE THE ROMANIZATION. First of all, not everybody who buys this book is an advanced Korean language student. Therefore, some people will need help with the pronunciation of some verbs.Of course I know Hangul, and I know the rules to read Hangul. However, many times I have run into words that I believe I am pronouncing correctly, based on the rules to read Hangul; but when I hear the actual pronunciation of the words by a native Korean speaker, it happens to be that I am completely wrong. Like the number 16(½ÊÀ°), why is it pronounced shimnyuk instead of shibyuk?...Well, you got me!!!...But that is the way it is. Later on I learned that the number 6 (À°) takes the form (·ú)when is not in the initial position, and in this case the rule that ¤© when preceded by a consonant other than l or n, should be pronounced like n applies. My point is... 1)many times the pronunciation of a word does not abide by the Hangul rules, you just need to know how the word should be pronounced, period. 2) Even if you know the Hangul rules and these rules apply to the words, it is good to have the pronunciation at hand sometimes, and 3) If you definitely know how to read all the verbs to perfection, then FOCUS on the Hangul... I do not see what the problem is.Now, there are 2 things that could be improved, in my opinion.First, the Audio Files. As I said, no matter how well I read Hangul, I have noticed that if I had never heard the word before, my pronunciation sounds good, but different. In other words, sounds very "foreigner". So one of the things I was expecting from the audio files, was the pronunciation of all the verbs with its different endings; but that wasn't the case. The audio only plays the sound for the "dictionary form" of the verb and the sample sentences. For everything else, you have to trust you sound "Korean" by reading the verbs with your own Hangul expertise or by using the romanization.Second, it would have been nice if the author included the honorifics conjugations for the formal or deferential forms. Actually, this was one of the main reasons I purchased this book, so I was kind of disappointed when I did not see them. However, I am really happy with this book which, by the way, is really helping me to advance in my korean studies. I definitely do not regret this purchase.

A good book for anyone who is seriously studying Korean
A good book for anyone who is seriously studying Korean. The book is excellently organized with a "Guide to Conjugations" at the beginning and with present, past and future declarative, inquisitive, propositive and imperative conjugations for each verb. And there also related, e.g., synonyms, antonyms, passive, causative and honorific words for specific verbs. There are also sentence patterns and sample sentences for each verb. Also, the verbs are written in Hangul with Romanized translations. IMHO, this is an excellent book for anyone who wants to learn Korean verbs.

It's exactly as says and works great!
This is pretty straightforward! A really comprehensive guide of common verbs you will need. It shows you past, present, and future tenses of all verbs for all levels of formality. Really, it's a great dictionary. The font is a little small on my iphone, but I can deal with that! Please try it out (=
