Weaver 48461 Top Mount Aluminum Scope Base Pair, Remington 700- Silver

The classic Weaver "Top Mount" design remains an excellent option for fitting a telescopic sight to a lightweight rifle. Over more than three decades, I've used these mounts in concert with the original Weaver Top Mount rings on various rifles, from Whitworth Mausers, a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight, a Remington Model 721, and a Remington Model 700 Mountain Rifle, to name a few, and each time I've used them, I've been more than satisfied with their fit, installation ease, and rugged durability. The latest set of these, fitted to a Browning A-Bolt Medallion in .257 Roberts, is no exception. To my mind, part of the A-Bolt Medallion rifle's appeal is 6.5 pound weight in a "full-sized" rifle, which is what a "mountain rifle" is supposed to be -a full-sized rifle with a standard length barrel that provides full ballistic performance in a package that is light enough to lessen the burden of all-day carry in rugged terrain conditions, but is just heavy enough to provide a steady aim under compromised field shooting conditions. The light weight of the traditional Weaver Top Mount Base is useful on such a rifle for keeping carry weight down to a kind of bare minimum whilst providing rock-solid telescopic scope mounting. The base set fit my A-Bolt Medallion perfectly and the supplied screws used to affix the set were perfectly sized so that when they're properly torqued, they don't protrude in to the action to interfere with bolt operation. This base set was just as nicely made as the first one I bought over 30 years ago. The "They don't make 'em like they used to" lament doesn't apply to this product.

These fit perfect on an old Parker Hale. I bet 20 companies made mausers that these fit.

I'm gonna have to agree with another reviewer on that these scope mounts could certainly use another rung of picatinny. While they did fit my Nikon Buckmaster scope, they did it only just. Had I needed to move the scope forward or back more than a quarter inch to meet eye relief requirements it would have been a no-go. However, it did manage to line up correctly on my rifle, they fit the screw holes in the receiver perfectly, the screws all threaded correctly, and the scope is on the rifle securely, straight, and level. I have this mounted on a Savage Storm 110 and it fits perfectly. For that it gets 4 stars. Just beware you aren't trying to fit a compact LVPO or a scope with a shorter tube section, lest you find your build won't go together.

What can I say? I mounted them to my main bear gun. They have taken the pounding ever since, never fail, never even get loose. Look good on my stainless rifle too.

I installed these on a Savage Model 12FV chambered in 6.5CM and they fit just fine. For a very economical way to go, they work great. Keep an eye on just how long the scope you're trying to mount is, I barely had enough room to fit the rings. If you're trying to mount a compact or shorter scope on a long action rifle, these mounts may not give you the range of adjustment you'll need.

Screws too small for a new Savage 110 Trail Hunter. Package and advertisement is vague.

WARNING: If you're attempting to use these mounts on a rifle that has pre-drilled holes, make sure that the front of the rear mount isn't too close to the lifted edge of the stripper clip guide.. Otherwise, you'll either have to take the dremel to either your rifle or to your mount. I have these mounts on multiple mausers, and while they will work with most of the threads in the holes, the fitment for the rear mount can interfere with either that lip( See red arrow in photo), OR with the arm of your bolt (See Blue circle in photo). This results in having a raised front of your rear mount, and won't be level to your front mount for the former, and will result in you not being able to open your bolt for the latter. Otherwise, the quality is great and there is nothing inherently wrong with the product I received.
