Slim design and well built. I had no issues and great resolution using both the NTSC and PAL formatted discs. As a personal observation, I think the stability of the unit and design of the remote control keys can be challenging. The two front feet are 2.5 inches from the edge while the back feet are only 1 inch. Also, the remote control can be tricky since the scan and skip functions are in the shape of the traditional vertical volume and channel keys. To be fair, the player will tilt down only if you apply pressure to the top front portion. The included user's manual has great instructions on how to use the remote control. Also included are 2 starter AAA batteries although I feel more comfortable using my own quality alkaline batteries. I plan on using this player to play memorable videos while travelling since some of my relatives and friends rely heavily on streaming only. Overall, a quality DVD player at an affordable price.

I just received it and got it hooked up. Easy to hook up and dvd's play great. I haven't tried it with the other aspects it says it does, but so far excellent item for the price.

I have only watched two movies so far, but it seems to work well. Set up was easy. I didn't even need to read the instructions. Resolution seems good. Delivery was good. The remote control is a bit complicated but I was able to figure it out, unlike, possibly, other remotes out there.

I know DVDs are beginning to be a thing of the past but I still love the excitement of selecting a DVD from my collection or online and putting it in a player for movie night. I purchased this Megatek DVD player in 2024 (this review is being written in 2025). I chose it for the reviews, the size, and the multi region ability as I had a DVD series that was not of this region. The item arrived promptly and worked perfectly until it didn't. Out of nowhere I turned it on and it wpuld not power on. Granted I only paid less than $30 & DVD players are fairly cheap these days, but I decided to go back to Amazon to see if there was a warranty & see exactly when I purchased it. It did have a warranty but of course I was a bit late then I noticed a sticker on the unit with a customer service email address. On last Saturday at midnight (a holiday weekend) I sent an email letting then know it stopped working & asking if there was anything they could do. Not expecting anything, of course. I especially didn't expect anything after midnight on a Labor Day weekend. But, to my surprise the next morning I had an email reply from them. The expressed their appreciation for my order & apologies for the unit which they felt may have been defective. They asked for my Amazon order # & my address. I replied with the info and to my absolute surprise they emailed me back on a Sunday to let me know they were expediting another unit out to me. Wow!!! You just do not see this level of customer service these days!!! Then on Tuesday just as they said, I received a replacement unit- which I am currently using to watch a sitcom I have on DVD. I just want to express how impressed I am with everything. THIS is what we need more of these days - a company that stands behind their products & values you for choosing to spend your money with them. I am very happy with the dvd player. Have used it for a few weeks and it's works great. I watch a lot of old tv shows with multiple episodes on one disc and it has no problem playing one episode after another.

Perfect item for small confined spaces and it works perfectly I don't have any issues with this is indeed region free and it helps me when I want to watch a movie in the way of old school just go to my collection take out a DVD and put it in

When our old DVD player stopped playing, I thought it would be easy to find a new one. It wasn't. DVD players serve a technology that has almost completely been replaced by streaming services. I was so relieved when I read the reviews of the Megatek DVD player, written by people in my situation who want a simple but well-made device that just plays DVDs. As other reviewers mentioned, the quality of image and sound is high. One reviewer expressed concern about the remote. The Megatek remote is similar to our old remote but the labels on the various buttons are clearer and more helpful. I found it easier to use.

I bought this unit from an Australian seller who drop shipped it from the USA so it has a US style plug which is useless for Australian power outlets. Back it goes. Why do sellers do this? It's just incompetent.

It only worked for few DVD’s and then the door stuck and does not open. It’s a waste of money.

For the fisrt hour I was impressed. Easy setup and decent upscaling, then: There is one big problem. On commercial DVDs (Rome, Sopranos, The Office) each DVD has several episodes. The first and second episode plays fine, and the upscaling good too. Sadly, It will not play later episodes. Sopranos - Disk 1. Episode 1, 2, 3 work. Episode 4 wont's even start. Rome season 1, The second DVD has 3 episodes. 1, great. 2, near the end the picture gets progressively worse until it freezes. Using the menu to play the final 3rd episode fails completely - total freeze. The Office, Uk. Season 1, first 3 episodes play fine. 4,5,6, won't even start. I have setup and resetup several times. Cleaned disks. Checked all connections. Tried two different high quality HDMI cables. Even tried using a different HDMI port on my TV. I know well about AV equipment and have ruled out bad connection, faulty cable, broken/scratched disk, TV issue, and have fully reset the player several times, including uplugging from the power, leaving it, then setting up again. Bottom line. It can only read the first parts of a DVD with episodes on it. The result is always the same. (See "Update," below important.) This is upsetting because the upscaling is good for the price. (HDMI). However it's kind of useless now as I can only watch the first one or two episodes of any drama/HBO series etc on any and all disks tried same problem. Update ====== The Amazon market place seller was extremely helpful and sent me a new one at no cost to me. Incredibly, this one has the same issues. It can play the beginning of disks fine, but cannot go past half way. I will not request another replacement. This is a product with low quality components. Two brand new players with the same issue is too much for coincidence. Others have had similar problems so I will trouble shoot a few more days, but I am quite sure it won't work. The only good thing is the kindness of the seller. Regarding the product, very disappointed and cannot recommend.
