Trees: A Rooted History

I am a professional fine woodworker, and am very adept at presenting the beauty of Mother Nature's wood. I've always been very moved by that beauty, so decided it was finally time to understand trees themselves, what makes them tick and how their wood becomes as it is, as such an understanding is felt essential to moving my work to the next level.So, I bought a series of books varying in depth and precision. This was the first I wanted to read, intended to provide a strong foundation upon which my understanding could grow. Having done so, all I can say is this:Wow, what a great book!!!!It provided everything I'd asked of it, and more. What is even better? It will help me pass this love of trees, of nature, along. My 8 year old grandson will love the book.What could be better than that?

Gorgeous illustrations, detailed and interesting information, excellent addition to a child's library. This can be a wonderful reference book and can be useful to all ages. Young children can browse the unique and engaging pictures, while older children can read the side bars/explanations and use that information to inspire and extend their learning. Highly recommend.

This is an amazing book! Richly illustrated with gorgeous and accurate drawings, it is a suitable reference for kids and adults of all ages. This book is made with thick, high quality paper and can be treasured for many years. As a teacher, I have many books on trees, and this is by far the best that I have seen! I purchased this book for my daughters to share (ages 6 & 12) and it appealed to both of them. There is enough well written and interesting text to make it appealing to adults and older kids, and the illustrations are incredible! I highly recommend it.

One of the prettiest books I've seen. We ended up ordering their bee one too. We liked this so much we just redid my daughter's room in a forest theme with tree decals to match. Absolutely worth the money - just wonderful!

My three-year-old will sit on the floor and flip through this book by herself. She won't let me read her the text yet, other than occasionally to find out what something is named, but there is just so much to look at and discuss. I bought this as a birthday present for MYSELF because I was desperate for something fresh to read 15x a day... this was a wonderful purchase. Happy mom, happy kid.

First impressions: My kids couldn't get enough of this book tonight, and neither could the grown-ups. Wide-eyed and enthralled, were we, with both the illustrations and the reading material. I can sense this book will become part of our all time family favorites, and think other nature-loving people of all ages will cherish it as well. I will update my review once we have read more of it and can give a more detailed account!

This book is so fascinating to read and look at the pictures, I can’t wait to share it with my children one day! I would just say it is a tall book, so if you are looking to put it on a bookshelf be aware of the size.

Il libro ha soddisfatto le mie aspettative. Immagini molto belle. È in inglese ma si traduce senza problemi. Ho acquistato mesi fa il libro delle api dello stesso autore: meraviglioso pure quello! Non vedo l' ora di mostrarlo ai miei alunni di classe terza a settembre.

Such a cool book full of all sorts of interesting facts about trees. The illustrations are awesome.
