This bar grips like a gorilla holding his banana
I was surprised at the serious quality of the BuddyBar when I received mine. I had just returned a much less expensive security bar, (2) actually, the Brinks 675-83001 Home Security Commercial Door Jammer, that I bought on Amazon. They were just junk. Hey, they sold for $20 each, what could I expect for that? JUNK!!! That's exactly what I got, JUNK!!!. and I sent them back for a refund. Parts missing, other parts broken. The BuddyBar is exactly what the doctor ordered. Very heavy duty, very high quality, and it really works well.Hard to believe I see a few "1 star" ratings here. No way! This is a "5 Star" all day long. Obviously those "1 Star people" can not or didn't read the instructions or they just can't comprehend what they read.Get this bar set at between 12 - 18" inches from the door and it works like crazy. I set mine at 15".This bar does NOT slip on a ceramic tile, carpeted or wooden floor, not at all. I tested this in my house. I have all 3 floor types. . This item has a true rubber foot, not plastic, like the cheap ones. Get the angle right and no one is getting through the door. The setup is very clear in the instructions. The easiest way to set this bar up is to set it about 1/4 - 1/2 inch or so under the doorknob, then set the foot pad about 12 - 15 inches from the door and lock down the handle. To remove it without resetting it every night, just kick it out a bit and remove it. Now it's ready for tomorrow, all set up for you. There is no rocket science to it.Doing it like I describe will set the thing at a proper angle and someone will not get in to your door from the door knob side. I don't care how hard they kick, they just will not get in with this bar installed. Don't forget, scroll through the product advertisement, 2 of these bars held up a 5,000 pound pickup truck with no problem, they are seriously very strong. You think you can apply that kind of pressure by kicking? Bruce Lee couldn't do it, neither will you and 3 of your friends at the same time.I doubt one of our Sheriff Dept. 35 pound Police Ram Busters could get through with this bar properly installed. Now, I'm not saying the dirt bag creep trying to break in your home won't kick in the other side of your door, the hinge side. But the BuddyBar will help with that too. It will certainly help slow him down, way down..But to really protect that side of the door You would need a product called a jamb seal, like a Armor Concepts SET-EZA-23000 Entry Door kit. That would give you very good protection for the hinge side. If you have a good solid entry door to start with and have both products installed together you will have great protection for your door. One more very important thing for good security... the screws that hold the door hinges. In the hinge area, change out your factory supplied 3/4" long brass hinge screws. Use 4" coarse thread, plated Deck Screws on each hinge. These will bite right into the actual door jam studs, not just the casing. Same for the latch bolt and dead bolt plates, use 2" or 3" Plated Deck Screws there too, whatever works in your case.Look, it's almost impossible to stop a determined criminal. But you sure can slow them down, a lot. Criminals do not like to make a scene, they do not like to make noise. They want IN your house, fast. When they are trying to get in your house you want to slow them down, force them to make a racket, so you can call the Police and do whatever else you have to do to survive a break in while you are home. It's your family, your life. The BuddyBar is cheap insurance.

Saved my sanity
This thing is a force to be reconned with. I was plagued by a crazy, ex boyfriend with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. When I had knee surgery, without warning, after breaking up with me a year before, he came over playing the game of, âI want to help youâ, âI will do thisâ, âI will do thatâ. In the meantime all he wanted was to search for the keys to my house because i had put in door knobs with codes. He found where I had hid them, took them and had them copied. I was clueless until I went back to work and I would come home and find lights on, cupboards open, things missing, only to reappear the next day. I changed locks, had them re-keyed, yet he managed to get something through the rubber seal and slowly gouge out the strike plate until he got in, then moved it so the deadbolt was not engaging as I thought. He used a drill to try and remove the newly re-keyed lock. I made police reports, put up cameras, yet somehow the cameras would stop working for an hour or so. It seems as though he was able to disable my modem so the wifi wasnât connected. Once in, he would take the batteries out of the push button lock in the back door and was able to disengage the deadbolt. He removed all the signs that said to whom the house belonged to, and not to make keys for anyone but me. It seems if he had mail sent to my house with his name on it, and said he was moving in and did not have his driverâs license changed yet, any locksmith would make him keys. Finally, I put the correct batteries in the back lock and changed the deadbolt, changed the exterior bedroom door locks and repaired the wood around the strike plates and put them on so that the dead bolt would now engage. I did this all on the same day, and finally put the door jammer in place. I now walk out the back door, lock it with keys, and the door jammer is impossible to dislodge because it has a locking mechanism. That is what makes it worth the price. My locksmith told me that cheaper models without the locking mechanism are easy to move by slipping something under the door and moving them. This really works. I was about to go out of my mind because he would leave all of the basement lights on and the bill was over $300. Anything to drive me crazy. It is finally over thanks to the door jammer. Worth every penny.
