When I saw this product I thought why didn't I come up with this idea. You have two ways to use it with the extension handle or without. I have Rubbermaid totes that I cut a hole in the side for the cats to go in. My totes are deep and I really had to dig in. Now I can keep my distance from the smells and get the perfect clean up at the same time. I've always clean my litter baskets multiple times a day. I figure I wouldn't want to be walking in my own excrements why should my cat. Now I can keep a nice safe distance and their litter totes clean as well. I only wish it came with a scoop holder. Instead I'll get a very small garbage can to store it in. Great idea great product very sturdy and if need be easy to clean.

First impression out of the box: This seemed sturdy and overall stronger than the one I was replacing. It does not telescope, rather, it is just long handled. Telescoping litter scoops don't make a lot of sense to me. Either you use a short handle or a long one - who needs a variety of lengths to scoop poop? Sorry, I digress. Anyway, the shaft came out of the box in 2 pieces and it simply screws together.There's a short rubber/foam grip about midway down the shaft I found that the shaft did not screw together tightly at first, constantly getting loose every time I used it. I got two of those silicone grippers you use to open stubborn jar lids and held the upper and lower part of the shaft and gave it a good tightening. It worked well.That's the good stuff...Now, the bad. The very first scoop I took out of my litter box, I heard what sounded like a soft *crack* come from the scooper. I pulled it out and examined it and it. It looks like there's a stress crack where the shaft meets the scooping end. I wiggled it and it didn't seem broken, but still looks like it has a faint crack in it. I have used it several times now and it has seemed fine, but I'm still keeping an eye on that.I gave this three stars because, hey, it's a poop scoop, and the thing with the possible crack doesn't impress me.***Update***So, I have 3 cats and 3 litter boxes and that's a lot.of poop and pee to scoop. So far this scooper has held up with no issues at all.I suspect that it was a coating on the scooper that cracked and not the scooper itself.It's sturdy, of good length, and a real back saver. Changing this rating to 4 stars because I am finding that the connecting pieces on the long handle come loose and it is slightly annoying to have to keep tightening it. Otherwise, I would recommend this for any single or multiple cat household.**Update 2**So, I've had this thing for over two years now. It's sturdy, durable, and I can't love it enough. I think the crack was in the outer finish and now the unit itself. And, let's be honest here, do you really care how “pretty” your litter scooper is? 😉**Update 3**I still have this scooper, and with three cats, Three litter boxes in the upstairs living area and two in the basement, you can imagine how much scooping I do. This has held up admirably and I can't say enough good things about it. I've ordered a second one so I don't have to carry this one all through the house collecting up cat waste. The fact that I'm buying a second one after three years use of the original (and keep in mind, it's not to REPLACE the original, just for convenience for me) should tell you how well this has held up.Changing this to five stars!

I just received a few days ago so have only used this once so far, so can't speak to the long-term durability as of yet. The handles screwed together easily and seem solid, and the length was perfect to keep me from having to bend way down to scoop our cats' litter boxes, and my hubby won't have to do all the scooping anymore. The scoop itself worked very well, but I wonder about the durability of that since it seems slightly thin. It may be plastic vs metal but am not sure. I haven't had to wash it yet. So far, very happy with this purchase and hoping it will stand the test of time.

Nice lightweight long handle scoop for cleaning our chicken coop. The middle screw on comes loose from time to time but nothing major. The cushion on the handle is tearing after maybe 10 uses. Overall does the job I need but I wouldn't rate it as a luxury design.

Arrived packaged in only bubble wrapped and very scratched up, possibly used or previous return. Amazon custom service was good about refund so no harm no foul.In terms of function, metal seems sturdier than other plastic scoops but heavier especially when using the extension. With the extension, the angle can be tricky to scoop and still have to bend over a bit.

This thing is made of what feels like heavy steel...not stainless mind you...but HEAVY iron. I'm elderly with bending issues which this helps reduce for me; but I also have arthritic hands wrists and this thing requires R and L hand use to get the poops out. Just warning any other folks thinking this might be light weight! But that said, it works just find. Takes strength to tighten the 2 pieces together and needs retightening regularly before each use. I'll keep it though because with adjustmrents, it does what I need it to do.

I like that you can use this cat litter scooper half way or make it longer by screwing into the other piece. Definitely make it easier on my lower back. I normally get pain when i bend down farthur to scoop. With this i didn't have to. Plus it is also very strong which works for the litter we use. When the cats piss in there a lot it clumps like hard and really sticks to the plastic kitty litter box. With this you can dig it like a shovel lol. Will make it easier to wash too as it is metal. I am happy with this as it works for us!

Easy to put together, made of solid materials and a good length. Perfect for scooping without stooping.

If it wasn’t for my daughter sending me a video of this scooper,I’d never’ve even known it existed! This.Thing.Is.Amazing. It’s a heavy duty metal handle & scoop,that makes it easy to scoop the wet stuff from the bottom of the tray,lrg slots to shake the excess out quickly,the long handle makes for less back strain & it takes me 1/4 of the time to scoop our x-lrg litter box (we have two huge 13 yr old Maine Coon brothers,who use it all winter,in Northwestern Ontario,Canada)! Never thought I’d say I’d enjoy scooping poop,but this certainly makes my life a lot easier,especially on my arthritic hands & Fibromyalgia riddled body! BUY THIS,ASAP!!

First time we bought this, we got the old version (the old version does not have the extra metal reinforcements for where the scoop connects to the handle). Of course we were disappointed, but we returned it and tried again from a different seller and got the correct NEW version which does have the reinforcement metal pieces. Wish we got these sooner, makes scooping litter boxes a lot easier (literally like using a mini shovel with slots for sifting litter) and with less back soreness as the extended handle has better reach than standard handles, thus reducing bending and stooping. Not sure how long it will last, but it does feel very sturdy in use.
