One impressive in-wall speaker
I purchased this speaker as a stand-alone center channel speaker for my 5.1.2 channel audio system. And out of the 7 speakers I have installed, this is by far the best of the bunch. Even compared to the other Polk speakers I used, this thing imparts serious depth and detail to my audio. And it's perfect for the center channel, which is more focused on voices in my system. The size of the woofers allows the speaker to really emphasize the sound, volume and tone of voices, so our dialogue is crystal clear. I'm not sure about the specific numbers, but I believe it handles power more effectively too. It gets a bit louder than my Front side speakers when playing the same audio, perhaps it's the two-woofer design or maybe just an better S/N ratio. Regardless, it just works. As a true testament to how much I love this speaker, I am seriously thinking about replacing my other Polk in-wall speakers with this. Unfortunately, this guy is a lot more expensive and only sold as a single speaker. Wish Polk would offer it in a discounted pair!!!

Great speakers, first time in-wall speaker installer, results are excellent!
Item shipped quickly, was received in great shape. Installation is a snap and instructions are easy to follow. For those a little uneasy about cutting holes in your walls to mount speakers, don't worry. This was my first time installing in-wall speakers. If you are at least marginally handy, have the basic tools needed, and use the provided template it will look like it was professionally installed. The speakers sound great. I power them with a Pioneer VSX-1020 and the sound is great. You will likely need a subwoofer as these do not provide enough bass to fill a room by themselves. I added the Polk Audio PSW505 and it provides excellent bass. The only negative I have is that the speaker coverings/grates are a little flimsy. They are magnetic and sit flush to the wall which gives a very clean look, but mine were slightly bowed at the bottom and are therefore not completely flush with wall. If I worked at it, I could probably bend them a little to make them flush. This did not affect my rating as I think these are excellent speakers.

Seamless appearance and crisp, clean sound
Firstly, if you don't have or you're not planning on adding a subwoofer to your system, then I would not recommend these speakers. They have an excellent soundstage and offer crisp, clean mids and highs, but they are lacking in bass response. Due to the design of my living room, I can only have front channel speakers and these are outstanding. Truly my only "complaint" which I knew going in, is that the bass response is not great, which is to be expected given the design, dimensions, placement, etc.

Above Average Value But Sound On-Par with Price
I must be missing something here based on the other reviewers. Solid build. For the cost, these are basically what you are paying for in terms of sound and receiving a little more in terms of features and build quality. They look very clean when installed properly. So overall above average value. I knew I would be sacrificing a little with the lack of enclosure on the rear but overall impressed with how it's managed. Definitely not blown away but not crying about it either. Definitely recommend tossing some audio insulation around the rear of these. It's cheap, you're ripping your wall to shreds anyway and it goes a long way. Sound is well balanced but definitely requires a sub to complete any kind of true depth, as with pretty much any in-walls for entertainment systems. You defintely need to tweak your receiver settings to get these to your liking. Play around with your levels until you say "ahhh, that's it". Default usually isn't the winner. Read the couple paragraphs in the manual regarding the 2" wall distance and tweeter filter as well. The wall distance switch matters most and for most it's going to be over 2". My tweeter filter is on given the acoustics of the room, but presumably most people will want it off. The sound itself, once tweaked (I'm using a brand new Denon receiver) is what you would expect from a speaker that costs this much. The other reviewers...I don't know. I just don't agree with what many have said in regards to the final product. They sound good but I am not doing cartwheels. The room we tossed them in definitely wasn't getting the GoldenEar budget which is why I purchased them. At the end of the day if you can spend a little more I would look at in-wall enclosed or ultra slim on-wall options or Speakercraft makes some reasonably priced 3 ways that plop in your wall just as these do. Overall I am not disappointed but not going crazy like many other people here. No my objective to be a Debbie Downer but wanted to give a more realistic review than what is posted here. I know I would have appreciated reading it.

Every bit of it is good
The speakers come with the template needed for the perfect size hole and easy layout for your room. The grills are very low profile, attach via magnets, and the grill mesh is very fine with a high-end look. The speakers went in easily and secured to the wall firmly. I used these for my fronts in a 5.1.2 system, matched with the Polk 255crt (center), 65rt (rears), 70rt (ceiling presence) for an ATMOS system. After calibrating my levels I am blown away with the sound! These produce phenomenal clarity in both instruments and voice. The transition from one speaker to the next is perfect, being timbre matched. I couldn’t be happier with the results and I highly recommend these for anyone looking at installing a clean in-wall system.

Sits tight/flush with wall.
Excellent speakers, lacking a bit of base but I knew that going in. Thought one of the speakers was bad after installing but it turned out the button for tweeter was not pressed in. Very flat and flush, looks great.

These could not have been easier to install. All you need is a gyprock saw, a screwdriver and some wire strippers. I installed as a centre channel and there's absolutely no issue with the speakers being slightly off centre with the port. Grille covers it anyway once painted, and you'll need to do that as they are a kind of off-white old IBM cream colour. Be nice if the just produced them in plain neutral white but easy enough to spray paint 👍

I upgraded from the Polk 65v to the 265 because the v65 was well… just meh ? For the price the performance was crap - and if I’m honest the price of the 265 for just 1speaker is shocking….. but the the sound and performance is good , I only brought this speaker as I don’t have room for a book shelf speaker directly behind my listing position and needed a in wall …. Otherwise I wouldn’t pay that price, but the 265 delivers …. Easy to install and sounds great compared to the 65v

Easy installation, magnetic covers make for a very flush appearance. I was tight for space and I cut my hole too close to a stud. You need at least a half inch of distance away in order to secure all 8 fasteners. I am left with 2 fasteners not engaged on one side but that's surprisingly barely noticeable. I am installing still and only have these going (front left and right) and they sound fantastic. These deliver fuller sound than my old (cheap) 5.1 combined. Signal is everything though. Games and movies from an Xbox one sound rich and full while older netflix tv shows sound muffled and unbalanced, but that's the input, not the speakers. If I had it to do over, I wouldn't hesitate to make this purchase again.
