My 13 year old is really doing well with this summer bridge book I got him before he goes into 9th grade. We use workbooks every summer to balance the time so there's a bit of structure in the day and this one is really impressive. There's a mix of different subjects plus art and online activities. I couldn't believe it had a lesson on sign language - I mean how amazing is that!? So it's not just math problems - but has a really good balance and engages kids in other kinds of educational activities like journal writing and learning about new things. It's the right level of difficulty for him as well and there's some things he really needed to review from 8th grade and this book helped point out those areas. The best part is the answer key. The answer keys has great explanations for each problem - so they don't just say the answer is "D" they actually explain why so if I don't understand the math, lol, I can easily get some explanation for that problem and the step by step math formula so I can guide him and assist a bit without feeling totally lost :) Then my husband likes it too since the grammar sections that are not his favorite at all, he can at least understand why the answer is what it is and better explain. I really like this book and I think they did a great job, and the way they did the answer key is a home-run.

I bought this for my kid to keep busy and also to review what was learnt during the last school year. It has been great. It's a review of skills and also challenging them with new concepts. This book allows not to forget the concepts learnt and review them and work on the weak areas. The weekly picture challenge kept the kid use this book everyday. The online modules are another way to enrich the summer break. I would recommend all the parents to use this book.

I bought this for my son who was struggling in school all year and I didn’t want him to enter high school behind or forgetting anything he already learned. This book was really helpful to keep him on track and he was actually enjoying doing pages everyday for a set amount of time. We used it as a way to earn free time during the summer instead of letting him just play video games or sleep all summer. I highly recommend

This book is great has everything you need and nothing you don't. The best part is the math answer key in the back actually walks you through how ro get the correct answer! Very helpful when you have a problem and do not know how to solve it.

My daughter LOVES this summer learning book! We have tried different summer learning books every summer and some of them are too time consuming! The kiddos didn't feel like they were getting a summer break and would shut down! Now, they have different activities to do in this book! Some online and some in the book! They are much shorter and the kiddos feel like they are still learning, but also getting a summer break still! Thank you for designing something that keeps their brains thinking and learning, but also allows them to have their much needed summer break off, as well! 😁🙌🏻

Every summer I get my kids some sort of grade appropriate workbook to help keep them in a routine and keep their minds working. So far this book has done just that and made it VERY easy as a busy parent. They have it sectioned off by week and day (week one, day one, day two, etc into week two day one..) and everything is already neatly organized for you right there into quick math, reading, and writing assignments. My son got super hyped about the gift cards they offer as a possible reward and day one told me he's not going to give any problems completing it because he wants that gift card! I haven't done much with the bbn online curriculum yet but the book does have an access code that unlocks that as well.

3 stars because the content is lower than the grade level it's suggesting and sometimes, the answer key is off. My kids were already not excited about doing the extra work and when the answer key doesn't match up, it gets very frustrating.

I am very impressed with the variety and depth of artistry in this simple refresher book. Who knew that the poetry would be empathic enough to start a conversation with my teenage son? What I am also pleasantly surprised with is the ASL. As a CODA ( Child of Deaf Adults) we are steady trying to remind them of basic signs so they can communicate with their grandmother. This book is well worth the small price. I would recommend as a refresher for student and also under challenged middle schoolers.

English Review (Formal & General): I had a very positive overall experience. The quality exceeded my expectations, and the level of professionalism and attention to detail was truly commendable. Excellent resource for kids summer learning. Fun activities and keep the kids right on the track.

The book had everything we needed for grade 9 and prepared my daughter for high school. The book was great, but it would have been better if there were lessons on the unit. Some kids may not know certain units or forgot how to do it, having a lesson would be more convenient. If your looking for something with a lesson, check out the Canadian curriculum. They broke down each unit to make it more easier. I don't know if they have the Canadian curriculum in grade 9, but if your looking for math, they do have a math smart, that covers everything needed for grade 9. Overall this book was a good review for grade 9 if you know everything in math.

The Lumos Summer learning headstart is a good summer book. My child enjoys doing the daily activities in the book and on the website.
