Morse Code Speed Builder Course for 5-16 WPM Audio CD – May 1, 2011

I fell back in love with code after discovering iambic paddles and electronic keyers. Been away for quite some time, but, I'm back now. Thanks to Gordon, even the learning has been fun. He was the best then, and he's still the best now!

I selected the 5-16 wpm Speed Building Course to restart/rejuvenate my previous (decades) CW skills. Clearing the cobwebs from my brain took more time than I thought. Initially started at 5 wpm 15-20 mins daily. Increased to 60 mins daily. The goal is getting 80% copy while increasing the speed of hearing not just individual code character but entire word. My goal is 30 wpm and this is my first to accomplish that.

While I'm only on Disc 2, I'm rapidly relearning morse code again. I've had a 20 year gap since I last got on the air and worked CW. This course is copied from cassette tapes, so it does sound a bit scratchy at times. Gordon West is a very kind instructor, often providing encouragement here and there. Believe me, there are times when I needed it. It includes the commercial test for Canada which isn't necessary but it's good practice anyway. I like how Gordon adds interference so that when you do get on the air, you won't be distracted by other amateur radio operators. This is a nice and gradual build up of code speed. I'm glad I purchased this and would highly recommend it for any FCC licensed ham who wants to join the CW hams on the air!

Excellent review, learning. Though morse code is considered old school these days it is a skill set to learn that is valuable when no other modes of communications will work.

After using the Gordon West 0-5 WPM set to learn CW, I was very pleased. It was perfect for beginners. Now I'm working on this set to increase my speed and having fun!Gordon West knows just how much to push you while still having fun. In my opinion, the free programs out there are OK, but boring. Gordon keeps the fun in the lesson and holds your interest.I'm glad I bought this!

Wonderful package and great sound quality

Gordon's CD's are outstanding. I'm picking up what thought was long gone after just a week of practice for about 1/2 a day. Nice product!
