Not sure about ANSI or OSHA. Best bet is to contact Black Diamond directly and ask if the compliances met already on the helmet encompass the ones you are asking about. Here is what the instruction manual indicates: EN 12492: This number indicates that this helmet conforms to EN 12492:2012, the European Standard for “Mountaineering equipment – Helmets for mountaineers – Safety requirements and test methods.” UIAA: The presence of the UIAA Label indicates that the helmet has been tested according to UIAA 106 and awarded the UIAA Safety Label. : The CE mark of conformity indicates fulfillment of the requirements of the Personal Protective Equipment Directive (89/686/EEC) or Personal Protective Equipment Regulation (EU 2016/425). How well would this helmet protect against falling rocks from above? Is it as strong as an industrial hard hat?

Compared to a hard hat, I’d think this helmet offers more protection. Of course, its safety depends upon the size of the rocks and the distance it falls.

Is it possible to separate the plastic from the hardware/foam in order to change out the shell color or paint the shell?

The components of this helmet are not meant to be separated (with the exception of the foam comfort padding), and we cannot recommend any modifications to protective equipment.

Large enough to fit over my dreadlocks!

Just received, delivery was very fast and it actually fits over my head and bulky dreadlocks which other helmets I've tried do not manage!Time will tell how it functions when climbing, hopefully I won't be in a situation where it's put fully to the test, but looking forward to wearing it on an outdoor lead sport and trad course next week!
