Great value! Smooth movement and tight hold
This is a really nicely designed and constructed ball head for the price! So much better than the sub-$10 cheap ones. All the mechanical pieces move smoothly and there are a few things that stood out to me: - The ball joint has a plastic liner between the metal ball and metal shell, so once it's loosened you get a nice smooth movement without any grinding or stickiness - The knob to tighen/loosen uses a thrust bearing! (See photo). If you're not a mechanical engineer, the thrust bearing basically avoids metal-on-metal grinding/sliding when you really tighten down the knob, so it's not going to get stuck no matter how hard you tighen it. I was blown away when I noticed it - you don't typically see attention to details like that on relatively cheap hardware - The knob has a spring-loaded rotation feature - if the knob happens to be sticking out and getting in the way once you've tightened it, you can pull it out, rotate it in 60 degree increments and let go to tuck it away (see video). Again, really nice attention to detail! Build quality is excellent. The only thing that's a minor negative is the included arca swiss plate; it's a little cheap feeling compared to the rest of the ball head and it doesn't have a finger ring on the 1/4" thumbscrew, so you really need a coin/screwdriver to tighten it into your camera securely (I also wish the rubber on the top was textured for better grip and to prevent it from rotating). But It's still a perfectly functional arca swiss plate, so I can't complain and it's certainly not bad enough that I'd take a star away for it.

Decent Ball Head for Travel Tripods
Well made, works smoothly and holds a DSLR with a medium range zoom lens attached with no tilting downward from the weight. Ideal size for travel tripods. Make sure to purchase a 3/8" x 1/4" thread reducing bushing. Most of the travel tripods use a 1/4" thread on the mounting stud. A reducing bushing is not supplied. The quick plate is small but was suffient for the aforementioned set up. If you are planning on using longer focal length lens' ie.200mm ~ 500mm, that are much longer and heavier you will want to invest in a ball head that will be able to handle the weight There is 3/8" threaded bore in the ball head if you plan to use an alternate quick plate system.

Almost Perfect
Wanted to replace the ballhead on my old Cullmann Magic 2 compact tripod and add Arca-Swiss-style compatability, so decided to give this (the GM36) head a try. This wound up being nearly the perfect size - not too big, not too small. As others note, this is pretty well-built for the money, and clamps down pretty securely. My only complaint: the main ball doesn't seem as smooth as I'd like it to be, nor does the panning functionality pan all that smoothly. Perhaps a few careful spritzes of PTFE dry lube spray will help things, but I'm still pretty happy with this.

Greatest Ball head I’ve ever owned !!!
For $30 bucks this ball head crushes $200 ones , it’s crazy !!! No creeping , no movement no anything. The weight capacity is a whopping 33 LBs but honestly if your mounting something on this that close to 33 LBs you need an actual fluid head mount. My 300mm lens is a heavy , ( check out my pics ) it has TKO every other ball head out of its locking position , from my manfrottos to my oben 🙄 finally big Bertha has met her match. The quick release plate has a ring for the 1/4” screw so no awkward “where’s my flat head screwdriver moments or for me “ does anyone have a penny I could borrow “ the only flaw I can say about this is the silver paint On ball joint. I don’t have it lasting cosmetically and it should have been black imo but the ball joint itself as a whole has a very solid build. What can I say you can’t be the worlds best ball joint , only cost $30 bucks and also be perfect. Neewer making a statement with this one. Don’t think about it buy this !!!

Wow!
I own an older model Oben BC-1 ball head and the technology was just beginning at that time. This Neewer ball mount is amazing. I'm wowed at the ease of use. It locks in place without effort. No drooping. No creeping. The stability is phenomenal! The price point, 😲 😱. I'm using this with my R5 and the 50mm 1.2 lens, and that's a heavy lens, without any issues. The low profile is fantastic. The locking knob fits under the lens which places the level right behind the camera body in front of me. I had no problems using the large mount knob to lock the camera onto the plate. I use a PD camera mount which I keep on my camera all the time and because it's square, I can mount the camera onto the plate in any direction. I'm not using the provided plate. As you can see in the pictures, the camera is held well horizontally on my C Stand. No issues. I truly recommend this mount. I'll be getting a second one to replace my aged Oben BC-1.

Good head for the price, with annoying design flaw
The head works pretty well and is a bargain at this price, however the design of the plate is such that either the release knob or the protruding level on the opposite side bump against the head locking knob when even at a slight angle, making it awkward to operate. This could have been easily solved with a slightly longer "neck" connecting the plate to the ball.

Effective upgrade for my tripod
Larger ball helps keep camera with heavy lens in place, without down “creep” in smaller balls. Arrived when promised. Fits well on both tripod and monopod. It is a bit heavy though.
