Standard Horizon GX1800G Fixed Mount VHF w/GPS - Black

this replaced my 15yr VHF and wow, big improvement. I can actually hear radio calls. Thought it was the antenna for a couple of years. So far so good. The GPS acts as a backup to the chartplotter of the same age that is working fine at the moment...for now.. haha. Fast delivery too!

The radio was easy to install and has key functions similar to those on my Standard Horizon handheld VHF. Consequently the radio was easy to learn to use. I entered my MMSI number which I obtained free through the US Power Squadron web page and activated the DSL function. There is capability to link it to my chart plotter but I haven’t done that yet. Internal GPS works well with no need for an external antenna even though it is mounted below deck. I purchased separately a flush mount kit to mount it in a bulkhead with other instruments on my sailboat. It is a very clean installation with no exposed wires or brackets.

BEEN BOATING FOR 35 YEARS THIS IS THE BEST MARINE RADIO I HAVE EVER OWNED LOVE THE FEATURES NOT CHEAP BUT YOU GET YOUR MONEY'S WORTH THE BUILT IN GPS IS AWESOME.

Works great, there is so many features with this radio and I will never use them, designed for cargo ships lol

Very nice radio that is very easy to use! The options are very easy to find and the radio works superbly. Only two down sides, first is the LCD screen can be pretty bright even in night mode, and the internal speaker isn’t the greatest. When turned up loudly it tends to distort incoming transmissions making it a little bit difficult to understand.

It's easy to operate even for non experts like me. Very clear reception and transmision. Easy to install

Still early days but it appears to be durable and sturdy, excellent reception and the gps is such a bonus. Easy to operate, I am very happy with total package.

This radio works great! Very clear and have had no issues with it since I purchased it. This is my second Standard Horizon radio and they have always worked great!
