Helpful in learning the basics of coding.
I bought this book for my son who was interested in programming. He found it helpful. He did go on to becoming a web and game developer.

Fantastic tool for beginner coding!
My 6 year old was very interested in learning coding, so after some research, I settled on this book. We checked it out at the library and started working through it, but it wasn't long before I purchased our own copy. This book is very well written and easy to follow and teaches Scratch excellently to a beginner coder.

This is definitely written by a teacher
This book is easy to follow without dumbing things down for kids. My daughter loves it and it is easy to set goals for her learning. We do a chapter every day and that is manageable for both of us (she can code all day on scratch if you let her). I am glad the author wrote this book. After my daughter finishes this one I hope to buy her the python one.

My 11yo seems to use with ease
My son enjoys coding and really seems to enjoy this book, easy enough to follow instructions, he hasn't asked for help yet.

Kids Live To Program
The grandchildren were so excited to see their programming actually work. Purchased as many as I could and programming cards also.

This is not for the average 6 - 10 year old as advertised
I intended for my middle school grandchild to begin to learn how to code. While Scratch seems like a good starting point this is NOT a self study book. It definitely requires an adult support person to decode the explanations of the author. Luckily I am a retired systems professional so I have a base that many grandparents may not have, but it clearly will require you to understand the instructions and then translate them into age appropriate instructions.Fine print.... Scratch does not work with Internet Explorer. This is mentioned on page 6 of the book. This information should have been provided in a "system requirements" section.
