Schwalbe Marathon Plus MTB 26" MTB tyre black 2015 26 inch Mountian bike tyre

I bought these for my mountain bike for peace of mind when I go offroad on trails I've never ridden before. So far so good as I haven't encountered any punctures so far. I bought a pair and they are admittedly a bit on the heavy side but that is due to the added protection. When I ride my bike I don't want to have to worry about punctures or carry a puncture kit and pump so these advantages negate the extra weight. Less fuss, less worry, more happy cycling! I had read reviews that they are difficult to put on but I had no such trouble. They went on my wheels easily just like any other tyre. They also have the added safety feature of a reflective strip on both sides of the tyre for cycling at night and the grip of the tyres is more than adequate for the majority of terrains one encounters.

I got these so I could cycle down the towpath next to the canal without getting punchers. They definitely helped but still succumb to the bombardment of thorns that takes place down the towpath's. With the aid of slime inner tubes I would get back home before any deflation occurred, which is just as well as it took allot of effort to pull the thorns out of tyre. Thorns that had made it through the super thick tyre were only just through but this actually made them difficult to pull out and the thorns that didn't go through were really hard to find and often took some digging to retrieve. Out of the 19 thorns that I could find only 4 had made it through (on one tyre) so not bad going. The pay off for this bullet proofing is the massive weight added to my bike, I thought it wouldn't be to bad but once both tyres were on wow! It's like my bike weighs twice as much. I was also disappointed with the width of the tread, I matched the size (26x2.10") with the ones I previously had on my bike but these were noticeably narrower with the tread on the edge of the tyre. I loved the reflective strip on the tyre wall, this is really very eye catching at night and a great safety feature.I would have to think long and hard before buying another set of these at such a high price, every time I lock up my wheels and skid I'm cringing.

Have been using these tyres on my Specialized Hardrock 26" MTB. Bought them as replacements for OEM tyres which could not cope with the flints and thorns of our trails, even with useless self sealing fluids in the inner tubes. Have now had six months puncture free riding on South Downs Way, Surrey Hills and the Chilterns. I have picked shards of flint out of the tyre after a ride; but still not punctured.Very good grip in gloopy mud, the tread clears very quickly. Can be a bit suqiffy on road surfaces, but these are supposed to be offroad tyres, the tread isn't really designed for tarmac, just a little caution required, although they actually seem to get better as they wear in. On the aesthetics side, they are not as full and rounded as say the Racing Ralph, so if you like your tyres to really fill the space between the fork, they can look a little skinny, at the time of writing they don't make a 2.25.They are relatively heavy, but roll resistance seems quite good, they are wired, so need a bit of effort to fit to rims.A brilliant tyre, if you don't like punctures!

Ah... winter in the Chilterns, time for the puncture fairy to return. After a flint cut through my allegededly reinforced 'armadillo' tyres, decided to buy these seriously heavy duty beasts.Yes they are heavy, roll resistance is OK, grip off road seems good, they give the impression of being a really well made tyre with an integral reinforced layer to protect against thorns, flints etc.Very pleased with these tyres.

I bought this type of tyre as a replacement for my old bike tyre as I was getting puncture after puncture, as it was a pain buying and repairing the inner tube. I have been using the tyre for about 3 months now without a single problem. But please note that the tyre will not stop everything you run over, just the other day I noticed a 3cm thorn sticking in my tyre. And I thought to myself ill just pull it out it will do no harm, but to my disappointment the thorn went straight through and punctured my tyre. The tyre did do the job as only the tip hit the inner tube, without the protective layer I would be buying another one. But don't let that put you off that probably just my luck as my route to work is covered in thorns, just be careful and don't think the tyre can run over anything with a puncture.

Sceptically I parted with more money than I've ever paid for tyres for my Scott MTB. I have had horrendous problems with hedgerow thorn punctures, and am always spoiling my rides. Since I fitted these tyres (4months at time of writing), I've had ZERO PUNCTURES! I am totally amazed and when I've worn these baby's out, I'll buy the same again. Good grip, did get a bit clogged in mud but shed it well as soon as out of it, but not clogged enough to stop me. I am impressed!

good service, received in a couple of days.once fitted they are thinner than my old tyres but still look ok and once you get used to how they ride the roll resistance is quite good and an enjoyable ride.The reflective strip around the tyre is quite cool and a little bit of added safety. Dont know about the puncture resistance as yet as only done 200 miles on them but not had one as yet so it is in the right direction

I have an electric Giant mountain bike and have put on these beauties as a seasonal replacement for Schwalbe land cruiser tyres. They take quite a bit of beating considering I used them on and off road and they feel great. No punctures yet. I'm very happy with the purchase.

io ho attrezzato la mia mtb per cicloviaggi, portapacchi borse etc etcmi servivano pneumatici da usare su tutti i terreni, e che si bucassero il meno possibile.e questi sono il meglio.certo, sono pesanti, ma se la mia bici è già stracarica, poco importa il peso maggiore degli pneumatici.a mio parere sono ideali per il mio uso, ma anche per un uso sportivo non agonistico, in quanto ti permettono di fare il tuo allenamento/gita giornaliero senza troppi patemi di forature.

Die Qualität von Schwalbe ist wie gewohnt sehr gut, jedoch ist das Fahrverhalten am Anfang sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig.Ich fahre nahezu den maximal erlaubten Reifendruck von 4.5 Bar um hauptsächlich einen niedrigeren Rollwiderstand zu haben.Das dadurch die Auflagefläche geringer wird ist mir bewusst, jedoch ist das Fahrverhalten selbst bei etwas weniger Druck um rund 4.0 Bar (Mindestdruck 3.5 Bar) immer noch sehr schmierig/schwammig auf dem Asphalt.Weshalb Vorsicht geboten ist während der Schräglage oder schnelleren Lastwechseln.Bisher bin ich schon einige MTB Bereifungen gefahren, vom billigsten Produkt bis hin zu großen Marken, in dieser Zeit hatte ich aber keine Bereifung welche so schmierige/schwammige Fahreigenschaften hatte wie die hier beworbenen Schwalbe Marathon Plus.Das es sich hier um eine Bereifung handelt, welche für das Gelände konzipiert ist, ist mir ebenso bewusst, jedoch sollten die Eigenschaften auf dem Asphalt schon etwas besser sein.Eine mögliche Erklärung dafür könnte sein, das dieser Reifen auf Langlebigkeit ausgelegt ist, dadurch die Mischung härter ist (welche meiner Meinung nach eigentlich relativ weich ist), dadurch weniger Haftung bietet und daher die Fahreigenschaften auf Asphalt schlechter sind, was aber nur eine Vermutung meinerseits ist.Vielleicht habe ich ja auch nur zu hohe Anforderungen an diesen Reifen, da ich mit meinem Rad lange Touren zwischen 35-70Km mit hohen Tempo fahre, wo nun mal auch viele asphaltierte Passagen dabei sind neben Schotter und Waldbaden.Ich bezeichne diesen Reifen nun einfach mal als Allwetterreifen im Fahrradbereich ;-)Trotzdem bin ich im Großen und Ganzen zufrieden, mir ging es primär darum einen Reifen zu bekommen welcher einen Pannenschutz bietet, das dieser nun auf Asphalt etwas schmieriger ist, lässt sich dann verkraften, dann muss halt der Fahrstil etwas angepasst werden :-)

Habe heute ne erste Proberunde im Wald gedreht, 50 % Asphaltwege, 30% Stein/Schotterwege, 20% erdige Matschwege.Auf Asphalt ist der Reifen deutlich schneller als meine vorherigen Schwalbe SmartSam, 26" * 2,25.Das Einlenken in Kurven braucht etwas länger = schwieriger, vor allem je schneller man unterwegs ist.Auf Schotter griffig aber nicht so wie SmartSam, liegt mMn in erster Linie an der schmäleren Spur des SmartGuard, auch wenn ein wenig luft rausgelassen wird um den Reifen breiter zu machen keine merkbare, erfreulichere Verbesserung.Im Matsch eindeutig größte Schwachstelle, versinkt tiefer und bremst dadurch deutlicher als die SmartSam.Fazit:Wer vorwiegend Allwetter-Berg/Wald/Wiesen/Ackertouren im Sinn hat der wird vermutlich nicht ganz so happy sein mit diesem Produkt,AUSSER die pannenfreie Fahrt hat oberste Priorität ;)Wege die ich fahre: 60 % Asphalt = Stadt, 40 % Berg/Wald/Wiesen/Acker.Ich bin zufrieden, vorerst, wie's pannentechnisch aussieht kann ich nach einer Fahrt natürlich sagen, nix passiert , ob das auch in den nächsten Monaten so bleibt ist zu erwarten, vllt. schreib ich in ein paar Monaten was darüber, denke aber das das nicht notwendig sein wird denn ich hab viele Foren durchforst und ausnahmslos ALLE loben die Pannensicherheit, weshalb ich auch zugeschlagen habe, Reifenwechesel nur weil Profil abgefahren ... nach im Schnitt 12000 - 15000 km und aufwärts.1 Stern Abzug wegen Kurvenfahrverhalten.bike on ;)

Hallo,ich fahre erst gerade mal 2 Wochen mit den Reifen. Daher kann ich in sachen Pannenschutz nicht viel Feedback geben. Ansonsten macht der Reifen abe einen guten Eindruck. Der Reflecktor-Streifen bietet nebenbei einen zusätzlichen Erkennungschutz. Vom Aussehen her gibt es für meinen Geschmack schönere Mäntel. Ich mag es halt etwas eckiger. Anhand des Gewichtes merkt man das die Reifen mehr als herkömliche wiegen. Das kommt natürlich durch den dicken Pannenschutz. Für mich als City Biker steht aber mehr der Pannenschut als das Gewicht im Vordergrund. Wenn man schnell fährt hört man leichte Jaul-Geräusche. Ich finds aber cool, das wirkt so schnell :-)Im großen und ganzen würde ich mir den Manten wieder kaufen, vorausgesetzt der Pannenschutz hält das was er verspricht.

Ich habe mir nun endlich zwei Schwalbe Reifen Marathon Plus MTB SmartGuard zugelegt, weil ich innerhalb kurzer Zeit 3 mal meine Radtouren genervt unterbrechen musste wegen Plattfuß.Das war eine gute Entscheidung, da Qualität und Stabilität einfach top sind und man endlich auf Tour gehen kann ohne den Blick ständig auf die Räder zum werfen.Tja jetzt fragt sich sicher jeder wenn der Typ so begeistert ist, warum dann den Titel "Fast 5 Sterne"???Ich fahre so ca. 70 Prozent Strasse und 30 Prozent Gelände auf meinen Touren und ich hätte mir mehr Grip im Gelände erhofft, da es ein MTB Reifen sein soll! Aber weil ich nun nach rund 600 Kilometer sagen kann das der Reifen mich ohne Panne durchs Gelände bringt nimm ich das gern in kauf! Bewerte ihn somit mit 4,5 Sternen und kann ihn nur entfehlen für Radfahrer mit den gleichen Tourenfahrten auf Strasse und Gelände.Also den Preis sind die wert, das spart man an Fahrradschläuchen ;)
