Herschel Settlement Backpack, Ash Rose, Classic 23.0L

The greatest thing about this Herschel is that it last through the school year. The zippers are high quality and don't break. The bag doesn't rip or tear. It holds it's color and structure, and though it looks well loved at the end of the year, it's still in great shape. This is the perfect size for an elementary school student. It doesn't hold binders well, but folders are perfect, and we also get a sack lunch, a sweater and plenty of school supplies loaded in it daily. Overall, great bag. Wonderful customer service from Herschel. Clearly, more pricey than some other bags, but for the quality, it's the best choice.

Someone recommended this to me as a gift for my Dad that was in search of a new backpack. I ordered it and has so far in just a few weeks and 2 trips held up and been perfect. It fits a lot and is durable. It is on the larger side of a backpack but perfect for a quick day trip or overnight stay. He is enjoying it.

I've been using this backpack heavily--carrying around my macbook and countless books for uni, and using it stuffed full as a carry-on for various trips. It's held up well for the 5 months I've had it and I expect it will last. It's well built out of a sturdy but good-looking and relatively light material. The zippers aren't the smoothest, but I prefer it. I live in a big city and I feel that the zipping would make it easy to detect a pickpocket, or if something was falling out. Overall I definitely recommend investing in this backpack if you'll be using it long term and/or for heavy duty purposes.

This is a really great bag. I'd done some research on Herschel's different backpacks and a website said this one was the sturdier of them and even expanded when fully packed. When I first opened it I was greeted with the striped lining and very firm build so it didn't collapse on itself. I'll admit I was skeptical how something so firm could fit a lot but it does. I was able to put my coat in it with my other stuff in it. Now I'm a believer. It seems to resist rain well. (I've only been in rain once with it since getting it) My only complaint is it doesn't have a side pocket or two for a bottle but otherwise great. I've read that the zippers will go out after some time, if that happens, I'll add to this review. So far they seem to be robust but surprisingly smooth for their hardness. Sometimes if you fill it with mostly flat things it won't stand up perfectly on its own but that's a minor issue. If you're looking for something durable, simple, fits a lot of stuff, and stylish, this may be the bag for you! Make sure to get the regular size (not mid volume) if you're a student or need a lot of space for a laptop and books/binders. I got the mid volume and am returning it because it's too small. Kind of a waste for about the same price for so little space that only a 4th grader and younger could use.

Fast delivery by seller, am very happy with that. This backpack was purchased as a gift and it suits the recipient just fine as a smaller pack for use for commuting to her first job. Quality appears to be above average, there weren't any loose threads, the fabric is stiff/sturdy, zippers appear to be robust and work smoothly, and this model comes with a unique interior lining vs. the unfinished interiors of most every other backpack on the market. Overall it's a quality backpack.

Love this backpack! So sturdy and the pattern inside is so so cute. The front pocket is really handy and I like that the laptop pocket in the backpack is really easy to slide your laptop into. I also find this backpack incredibly comfy, I used it on a few hikes as a day pack recently and it didn’t bother me at all! The big zippers are a nice look too. Hopefully it lasts a long time, I’ve only had it for about a month. So far so good!

Not for students with large books or binders. This is for a novel and a 1” binder. Not for middle school or higher, not for bigger than a tiny laptop. Well made, great piece. I’m happy with quality but a poor choice for school. Not for students. Not for overnights. It is tiny. Bigger than a purse backpack but holds very little.

This is it. The perfect bag. I love bags. However, I am a very petite woman--about 4'11. It's very hard to find backpacks that fit me without hanging down near my bottom. (That make me lean over and hunch my back) but that also have comfortable straps, and looks good. This bag is it! And it's spacious: I can carry my laptop, a water bottle, a lunch, and a client folder. It's like magic. Seriously, I can't stress how happy I am with this bag. The one thing I wish is that it came in the grey or cream colors it used to come in.

My daughter carries all her heavy school books in it and it’s lasted the test. Had it for a whole school year and is still strong. Will take A4 items. It’s waterproof but will become dirty if placed on the floor which my daughter does. Such a great buy and has outperformed many other bags she has had.

The back pack is a little small but fits everything it needs and is a solid back pack. She loves it

Great bag, good size for laptop compartment. This one is 13inch. The lower compartment has a key ring holder attached. Overall quality of bag is excellent and the padding on the straps are extremely comfortable. Did return item for overall size and bought the next size up instead that holds a 15inch laptop. Would be great if there was a side pocket for a water bottle.
