Fantastic option that requires minimal fitting adjustments with most manually operated loveseat/couch recliners. In my case I had to trim away some of the enclosed woodwithin my couch to make this work, however that was only because my couch doesn't use standard sized openings. Installation itself was overwise very easy and the end result has been a new life for my couch. Highly recommended for sure!

Beautiful replacement to a plastic handle that broke on a nice and expensive leather sofa. This replacement part, is universal, but it's made of metal/heavy aluminum, and thus won't break apart like the cheaper plastic parts that come directly from the manufacturer of such sofa, recliners and other furnishings. How it happened: the original manufacturer part looks sturdy but it is made of heavy plastic. However, the wire and clip is made of metal/aluminum. With repeated pulling of the plastic handle the high tension wire broke a piece of the hooking mechanism and rendered one of the recliners inoperable. Truth is, it could have gone any moment by anyone. We took out the plastic handle and inspected it, realizing we couldn't just put the wire back in place within the handle, a replacement had to be bought. I look at some that were identical and hard plastic, but then began to wonder if we could get it in some kind of metal. That's where Amazon came in. We found many identical pieces all with different seller names, and decided on this one because it would be here in the morning. It showed up and was the exact replica of the plastic one, but in metal. We put it on carefully (some adjusting is to be considered with the wire and clips, being careful to allow slack in the wire, where the "s" end goes into the spring for the recliner) and after a few adjustments (that took longer because removing a clip on our sofa is in a hard to reach area) we finally got it in place. Once done, the recliner has to be open to allow the handle to push far back enough to put the 2 screws in place to fasten the handle to the wood underneath the leather padding of the recliner. (Ours is leather, but it could be fabric for someone else) and that was it. It looks good, works smoothly with my brother commenting that the slid on this metal part is smoother and sturdier than the original plastic one that wobbled. So I'm being proactive and buying another one for the opposite side to replace before that goes. I think the product is excellent, well built and strong. I would fully agree on being universal, since without a part number at all, this fit exactly and was a perfect replica (handle, wire, clips, cable and spring) to the one that came with the sofa. I would further say that the material is tough, the wire cable strong, and the ease of replacement at a 6, if we were judging between 1-10. Some screws have to be removed, some hard to reach clips have to be removed firmly but carefully so as not to break them apart. I would recommend this product for slide recliner handle replacement. I am buying another and book marking seller, in case I need them for some stand alone recliners we have all over the house. I'm very happy with price, quality and build. This will last way longer than the plastic handle that lasted a little over a year, with constant pulling and general daily use. Tools you will likely need: A Philips head screw driver (we used hand tools, for electric go with the slowest setting so you don't strip the screws out). A flat head screw driver (to use on a clip underneath the recliner, where the wire goes attached with a clip). A pair of pliers to loosen the clip if needed. A small rubber mallet (we used the back end of a screw driver because we didn't have a mallet. Note to self: buy a mallet). A couple of LED bright flashlights (one will need to work underneath the recliner and inside the wood and then with the slide mechanism. The flashlight is essential to see into the hard to reach areas). A glass of water or juice, chilled over ice cubes to keep oneself hydrated.

Fixed the recliner super easy with help from a YouTube video. Part fit perfectly. My only gripe is why they don't include screws with the handle part. Hold on to your old ones just in case

The handle on my reclining coach broke, we had extended warranty so we filed a Claim. The company came out and assured me it was the pull cord and that it had to be ordered from the manufacturer. 2 weeks into the whole ordeal? They tell me it could take up to 6 weeks to get the part. So I decided to take it on myself. I pulled the handle out and low and behold the cable was fine, it was the flipper leaver that was broken. I went on Amazon and found this unit. It had the handle and the cable for sale. I ordered it on Saturday and Sunday afternoon it was here. It took me approximately 10 minutes to install it. Works like a champ! Oh, the factory flipper handle was made of plastic, this one is made of metal! So much better quality. Don't be afraid to try this easy repair. It is well worth it.
