Eye-opening, entertaining, RELEVANT read!
I highly recommend this book not just for those doing business in China but also marketers and business divisions in Europe and the US who are looking towards the future and thinking 'How do I stay on top of my game?'.The book cleverly mixes case studies, examples, consumer insights, and analysis in a straight-talking (and often funny) way that is easy to digest (I read it in one sitting).If you are looking for something heavy and technical - this isn't it. But if you want a fascinating insight into how and why the tech giants of China have redefined the way consumers socialize, share, run errands, hail cabs, do banking activities, buy...then you'll appreciate this book.

A timely and important book
New Retail: Born in China Going Global is a thought and insightful book that clearly explains, even to the lay person, the changes happening in the global retail markets and China's role in making those changes. This is a timely and important book and one that anyone involved in retail and marketing should own. Kudos to the authors!

Valuable read for anyone in retail or ecommerce
Zakkour and Dudarenok deliver on the promise and premise of the book, that Alibaba and China’s technology and digital commerce companies have built an entirely new version of what retail is and will be.What I found particularly interesting is the idea of an evolution from channels and ecommerce to ecosystems and habitats with the goal being the “4Cs”. I highly recommend this book to brands, retailers and anyone looking to understand where commerce and consumption are in Asia and where it is headed globally.

Fantastic read that is easy to digest. Practical examples and case studies help the reader get a sense of what is possible and what is most relevant.

Strategic Insights for the Future of Commerce Around the World
Reading this book will give you a competitive edge if you do business in China ... or in America, or Europe, or Australia, or Southeast Asia, or South America, or anywhere else. Strategic differentiators about this book over other "understanding China" books: 1) It's NOT about China ... it's about key Chinese retailers leapfrogging other established countries' brick-n-mortar/offline model and how you can/should apply to YOUR market(s) to take or continue leadership; 2) Describes the architecture and the integration behind all key drivers of "boundryless retail"; 3) Explains who is driving these same trends/systems outside of China and in which focus markets; and 4) Outlines how/what to apply first if you live in a market that is trying to "catch up" to China. TOTALLY a must-read is you are a US retailer or a manufacturer selling to US retailers as well. It will spark many "ah-HA!"s that will help you lead in your category.

Impact global markets on consumers and business owners.
The book was very informative about today’s global market. The author was able to capture my attention throughout the book. This is not easy because I get bored if a book is difficult to read. I would strongly recommend the book if your interested in the future of global markets and how they will impact our lives.

Retail has changed...it's a new world out there and here's a guide on how to adapt
This is a fantastic read on the China market/customers and how to compete and win. More importantly, it's a great read on how the world of retail is changing, what the implications are, and what is required to survive and thrive in this new world. Michael uses tons of real world examples of companies that are succeeding, not just theoretical or anecdotal evidence/examples. I will have this on my shelf and handy to advise clients moving forward.

MUST READ For Anyone Who Wants To Understand Retail in 2019
Insightful, digestible overview of digital disruption, new retail, and the influential powers behind it all. This book is so comprehensive and important for anyone who wants to start a company/brand today that it is mandatory reading for my students in the Innovation Course I am teaching at Parsons School of Design.

Very informative overview of China's new retail phenomenon
This book is very well written and provides an excellent overview of the New Retail phenomenon and how China's digital revolution enabled this phenomenon. I strongly recommend it. For the most part, the book doesn't reference its sources (be it McKinsey reports, eCommerce experts, the Alibaba book, OECD, WTO or other institutions), and that's the reason why I only rated it four stars, not five stars. The proofreading could have been a tiny bit more thorough, as I identified several instances when words were repeated.
