ESEE Black Izula w/Micarta Handles, Molded Polymer Sheath, and Survival Kit

The knife is extremely well made. It's small, but not too small. Carrying a larger knife is unnecessary, this will perform all the jobs of a knife twice its size. Other than sharpening it, your only duty will be to make sure it stays dry, it will rust if left wet. Unlike most fixed blades, this knife comes with an excellent sheath and clip and you can adjust it and modify to best suit your carry needs. The excellence in craftmanship is obvious. The handle is quite ergonomic and unless you have truly gigantic hands you won't find it too small. This is perfect for a small bug-out bag or as a daily carry.

Awesome knife. Small, tough, and VERY sharp. Holds edge well and is made from good steel. The sheath kinda sucks...I replaced it with an old leather sheath I had for a knife of the same size. Its perfect for EDC with a decent sheath. Beautiful product.

Incredible knife. Extremely sharp. Great for typical cutting tasks and on wood. Small branches aren't an issue for this at all. It does rust fairly easily here in the south Texas humidity, being 1095 carbon steel, but keeping something like Bushcrafter's Balm by 3 Key Outfitters on it helps a ton.

Fits my hand well. Snug fit in sheath which is important as I will also carry when on horseback. I will use for chores and as a smaller hunting knife. Exactly as Prime Valley pictured, fast delivery, great service.

So. Im now 6 months into carrying the izula. I wrapped it with para cord and also changed the sheath to a paddle style. Using a Chefs choice to sharpen it. Look. Its a good knife. I carry it everywhere. Use it 20+ times a day... the bad... looses an edge so fast. Not the sharpener becuase i sharpen my spdyercos on it and they hold a better edge. It does sharpen quick though. So about every 2nd day, I run it over the second stage of the chefs choice, and strop the wire off. Once every week i have to re grind the belly on the first stage quite a bit, cause i use that part of the blade the most. Overall... this isnt the last knife ill land on. Looking at higher end steels now with the izula shape/size. Too bad rowen just uses crap steels. Also: i dont love the izulas handle size. The ring doesnt fit the hand well.(if you want to put you pinky in it and drop it to let it dangle like, say, during skinning to peel hides, then get the izula II. I wish i had bought the izula II instead.)

Great quality and price. Solid addition to EDC. Compact can be attached to pockets with clip, belt and also makes a great neck knife. Minimalist survival kit addition allows for making fire, snare for game and a compact but effective whistle.

As with every Esee knife, quality is #1. I bought this over two years ago and have had it on my belt every day.
