La SportivaTarantula Rock Climbing Shoe - 44

I just started getting into rock climbing. I've only been climbing for 4 months and only indoor but I was ready to move up from the gym's rental shoe. This shoe got great reviews as a beginner/intermediate climbing shoe, both on Amazon and from the personnel at my gym. I typically wear a 10 1/2 in standard shoes and different reviews said they run big or small. I decided to go true to size and got a 44, and they fit well. There was already a tiny bit extra space than I wanted so I'm hoping they don't stretch too drastically.Performance wise, I love them. They definitely stick much better than the rentals and I'm able to get solid footing on even tiny holds. I was apprehensive at first because I wouldn't be able to hold to such small holds with the rentals so it took a while for me to realize these shoes could go well beyond the capabilities of the rentals.Lastly, the vendor from I purchased them was great. These weren't available with Prime which typically would deter me from a product because of extra cost and time. However, the vendor offered free shipping and it arrived within 3 days. That was a great surprise and I would defintely use them again.

I bought this shoe with an interest in bouldering and once i got climbing, they served me well for my messy beginnings but the rubber cracked on the toe within my first three months. Granted i was climbing frequently (3-4 sessions a week) and was a very sloppy smearer. I do feel like i got my money's worth but in retrospect I would've spent the extra 60 or so dollars to get something that would take more abuse

I normally wear an mens size 11.5 in most shoes. I read the previous posts that stated these shoes generally run large and I compensated for it. Fortunately it worked out and the shoes fit perfect. Overall the shoes have a pretty solid structure and have terrific grip. Also the toe box was really designed well for a mix of comfort and good stability in tight cracks. I am on the fence when it comes to the velcro straps. On one hand they make getting the shoes on and off fairly easy, but I can also see the velcro losing its fastening ability long before the shoe needs to be replaced.

I had tried on different shoes at the gym (not la sportiva brand) and they all felt a little too small so I went almost a half size larger with this one. (street 10.5 bought 10.5+) However this one is a little too large at that size. If anything I could have gone down almost a half size. It does fit well, but without my toes being at the very tip of the shoe, holding mini foot holds becomes near impossible.

Falling apart only after two uses indoor on my home wall and one use outdoor bouldering (mostly slab climbing not even over hangs!) First off, luckily I brought my Five Ten shoes (another climbing shoe company) with me also because the Tarantula kept slipping off slabs and weren't good at edging at all. Gave it the benefit of the doubt and wanted them to work because La Sportiva is a well known brand. They couldn't smear and/ or hold an edge. Climbed a couple boulders and switched to my Five Tens and did perfectly fine. Got home and started to clean my shoes per usually and noticed the La Sportivas were peeling at the heel! Rubber was already separating from the shoe. Super disappointed considering La Sportiva is supposed to be top of the line. Full return in process.

I am a size 11.5 or 12, bought these at a 10.5 as recommended by other users. Seemed too tight at first, but as I used them, they broke in nicely. Great shoes, would definitely recommend!

Great shoes.. my toes only turn blue after 3h of climbing without taking them off. Great for beginners or people who are coming back to climbing

I have been climbing 2 months 3 ish times a week, great fit for what I want and they stretch a little after a week or so.

Super Schuh.. Eine tolle Qualität und gutes trage Gefühl. Mein Sohn trägt ihn in 44 obwohl er normal 45 braucht.. Aufgrund der Beschreibung anderer hier hat er ihn eine Nr. Kleiner bestellt und siehe da! Er PASST ^^

Richtig guter Schuhe. Ich bin sehr zufrieden er passt sehr gut und fühlt sich auch gut an am Fuß. Bin sehr zufrieden.
