Accurate reporting, local and on the web
I was surprised to receive the AccuRite Atlas weather station as a birthday gift. It has been performing well for me. However living in the upper mid-west I learned that the distance between the main unit and the wind sensors were close enough that accumulating snow on the main unit would eventually block the wind sensors, particularly the rotating wind speed cups. Also, my rural home is surrounded by trees. Even though the trees are at a distance of about 200 feet on all sides of the weather station, the accuracy of readings for the prevailing wind speed were affected. I purchased the Wind Sensor Extension so that I could mount the sensor atop a 40-foot antennae tower. The instructions and were concise and the installation went like clockwork. Very pleased. Now my readings are much more in line with what is being otherwise observed. My only wish is that the extension cord (wind sensor to weather station) had been a few feet longer than the 30-foot cord provided so that I would have had more options on where I mounted the main weather station.

Great add on to my Weather Station.
This was a great add on to my weather station. Fit was perfect, wire length was perfect, connectors were perfect and very easy to install. I was able to lower the main unit for ease of maintenance yet keeping the anemometer and wind direction vane approximately 30' above the ground. I'm very pleased with this add on.

Had a issue with how it came, but got it fixed.
I installed the unit originally and it was working sort of. I had also bought an extension kit to put the wind sensor higher but I couldn’t get that to work. The plugs were not making good contact but when I attached the original wind kit it was working. After three days the outdoor unit quit talking to the display. I used the online chat help but since it had snowed and I couldn’t reach the unit. The tech on the chat sent me an email of things to try once I was able to reach. I brought the outside piece inside and went through the email. One of the things was to unattach the plug on the water sensor and then reattach. The plug on the water sensor while attached a piece of plastic forming the female side was broken. When I reattached the plug I had to be careful and line everything up without the surrounding plastic but I was able to get the plug in properly and the unit started talking to the display again. I also got the extended wind unit to work. The online help was very good but I don’t like using the chat. I which they just had someone to call. Since I got the unit working it’s been doing a good job for about a month.

AcuRite Atlas with Wi-Fi display
A little hard to set up but when you get it right it seem pretty good on tracking the weather I check it from my IPhone , computer & Wi-Fi display I have the sensor 30 feet off the ground on a tower the display is about 100 feet from sensor about 5 feet from 2.4 GHz router and have it connected to weather underground my friend checks it through weather underground from his house about 5 miles away

Lasted about 3 months
Bought as a Christmas gift and replacement ( upgrade) for a 30 yo Davis weather station that was still running great. Boy that was a huge mistake!!!! After just over 3 months the AcuRite atlas is dead! Tried the reset route and that worked for a week. Now it is stuck on the same temperature as well as other readings. So this weekend the next stop will be the dumpster and back up the old Davis weather station. Lesson learned.

Most people will need to purchase a longer mount pole
I purchased this for my Acurite Atlas because where my weather station is mounted, it sits below a row of cedar trees to the west. So to get an accurate wind speed and direction reading, I purchased this extension device. But I had to make my own extension pole using a piece of wood that I whittled down at one end to fit the extension sensor over. But since then it's been working a lot better. And it's held up pretty good to the harsh Canadian winters we get here in southwestern Ontario.

Extension simple to add-on to existing Atlas
I believe this extension should be included with the Atlas, but not every application can mount their anemometer 20 - 30 ft above ground, so having this as an accessory is a big bonus. So far after a few weeks of installing, everything is working as expected. Systems like the Osprey do not allow the anemometer to be placed away from the base unit.
