absolutely amazing
I just had to sign onto my mother's amazon account to review this game. I didn't expect much from TNA Impact! considering it didn't have the backing of past generation systems like WWE does with their products. Well I went over to a friends house and he told me he had just picked up the new TNA videogame. So we popped it into his PS3 and within about 10 minutes of gameplay, I was abosolutely amazed at how awesome this game is and I had to log on amazon.com and buy a copy for myself to own. Graphics: The graphics are everything you'd expect and more out of a next-gen game. From the facial expressions down to the beads of sweat pouring down the wrestlers faces... it's just amazingly realistic. 10/10 Controls: The controls are very simple which I enjoyed. I got pretty frustrated with the controls of the SVR series, where the controls would change completely every game and as someone else stated in an earlier review, TNA Impact! is not about trying to create a wrestling simulation. It's about having fun and not taking 30 minutes to learn the controls. A very simple control scheme indeed. 10/10 Story: Now the story in any wrestling game can tend to be somewhat cliche and silly at times, but you do need to understand that if the story was at a stature of a game like Metal Gear Solid 4, then it would just blow. You have your story mode of course, such as any wrestling game should have, but this story is more complex then the SVR games story modes, which made it a major plus. 9.5/10 All in all, I'm basically saying that this game is definitly worth renting, if not buying. A definite buy in my eyes even for fans of wrestling who aren't familiar with TNA wrestling. Some people have brought up places where this game might lack, which I disagree with. But if it does lack in certain spots, it makes up for it in others such as graphics and controls. So go rent it. Guaranteed you won't be dissapointed.

The controls are a little hard to learn but a pretty good story and fun game. I love the ulimate x match. I think the British version has a better front cover design

Good Looking
Yes, at first blush this game seems impossible. However, I like the look and interface of this game. Somewhat of a collector's item now that they've discontinued the TNA name.

The Negatives Outweight the Positives Tremendously
This game sucks, Sucks, SUCKS, SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(I could keep going, I'll stop). It sucks, don't assume that: you gotta try it just to see, no don't, it sucks, I assure you. I am a fan of sports games, I particularly enjoy them because I always have at least one game that's of the type of sport(currently own: one wrestling, one baseball, one golf, etc.) for the thrill of multiplayer, when playing with family or friends. This must be stated: The graphics blow away any wrestling game I've ever seen, it has AMAZING graphics. The multiplayer feature of the game, is the only reason I will keep such a game, as it is the only thing that is not AWFUL about this game. But as for the game itself: it sucks, I can't say that phrase enough. The Story Mode is boring as s*** from what I've seen, you have zero control over what you do, and you end up doing exactly what I am(completing it to unlock all the rings and all the wrestlers). The most outstanding things that suck are repetitiveness: there are extremely repetitive moves and movesets to the point you're doing nothing but punching and body slamming to get your Impact meter up for the finisher. The finisher: AHAHAHAHAHA, Idk who designed the system but it's horrid. People do the weirdest s*** that's unrelated to the finisher. A frog splash from the top ropes will be executed through a head lock while the guy is standing up and you press O. By the way if you think head lock is easy, at least: AHAHAHAHA. I had to get my Impact meter full 3 times one match before the headlock would execute, then I finally managed to do the Finisher. One of the reasons I had to do it a 3rd time was because apparently the full Impact meter tells the AI: I'm too easy, therefore I have to become extremely difficult and a complete and total pain in the ass to execute a finisher on, until the very short time(it really is short) you have to execute the Finisher is done. That's right: you have to work harder to land a Finisher, which I don't see why: this game has ZERO measurement of pain. The only thing you can count on to really win: the stun meter. Keep pinning while he's stunned, you're more likely to win. The physical beating up of somebody? Does absolutely nothing. You could beat a guy to a pulp with a chair, knock him in to and OUT OF a stun, he'll get up, body slam you in to a stun, pin you, and win the match. Because kicking out is extremely difficult, like REALLY difficult, because they require you to use the analog stick and you damn near BREAK IT to kick out fast enough. If you're STUNNED when you're pinned: give up. Just restart the match, you're not kicking out. Nobody has EVER kicked out of a stunned pin(4 people have tried), that's something only the AI can accomplish. Don't believe me? Just google: How do you kick out in TNA? So many people will tell you get rid of the game or make fun of you for continuing to play it. This game SERIOUSLY needs revamped, which could easily happen if TNA would make ANOTHER GAME, but they haven't yet(at least I haven't heard about it: only a PSP/DS Version, which is actually playable as a game I've heard). But all in all, with all the crappy flaws this game beholds: I'm keeping it. That's right: I'm keeping the game. Why? What would motivate me? 3 reasons, only one of them has to do with physical gameplay: 1. Aside from really good graphics, the multiplayer feature is actually entertaining, because the challenge for both of you is equal footing, the AI challenge is unrealistically biased towards the PC, even on the easiest setting. 2. Sentimental value: As far as I'm aware: this is the only way to play with TNA superstars like Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Jay Lethal, and Eric Young. Though I've heard 2k14 now has a WCW Downloadable Content which contains Sting and Jeff Jarrett and the 30 years of Wrestlemania has Kurt Angle, this was the only PS3 game I knew of before then that contained the wrestlers. 3. At the time of this post: I have one wrestling game, therefore: it is the only way I'd play wrestling with others if we wanted to.
