Great Scanner
I heard horror stories about updating the software so I’ve chosen not to do so. Other than that it’s a great scanner that goes into depth and detail more than an a cheap scanner. I have a 2002 Mercedes Benz ML (W163) and a 2017 Kia Sorento and was able to use the scanner for both vehicles. It’s fast, reliable, and easy to use.

The Affordable Bi-Directional Scanner Every Mercedes. Sprinter, & Smart Car Owner Needs to Wrench
Purchased an old W220 S500 which showed no “check engine” light, SRS, or ABS faults on the dash. I did have some marker lights and suspension messages in the instrument cluster.Being that I had a wonderful BlueDriver scanner which has worked wonders as a bi-directional scanner for my GM vehicles, I figured it would be great for my Benz... nope. The BlueDriver couldn’t communicate, though their website confirms it worked.Started following the different Benz forums to find the best scanner. What I learned, the Mercedes Star software was the best solution, but good luck finding one for under $2k. Then I looked into the Autel high-end versions, but didn’t want to spend $800+ and pay annual fees.I came across this Foxwell on sale during Christmas time on Amazon. I discovered it was bi-directional and came Pre-loaded with the Make of choice with the option to buy other brands (BMW, VW/Audi, and more). Best it didn’t have an annual fee to keep it working.Once received I was able to diagnose the 60ish modules my 2006 S500 had, learning that I had about 30 faults... yikes! No wonder I got a great deal on this car. Anyway, I was able to reference each code on different Mercedes forums and started tackling each problem. The biggest issues with these older W220 Mercedes are: Airmatic pumps, airmatic shocks, and the horrible PSE door locking system. This scanner told me what soft close doors that malfunctioned, that my PSE unit in the trunk was bad, that my trunk opening unit had a short and so on. Best of all, the bi-directional tests allowed me to see each modules of my air suspension and door locking and run tests. Unreal!I’m a weekend warrior who enjoys wrenching. I’m not an expert but love that we can all wrench on anything with a scanner like this and YouTube. There’s a reason $85k+ 10 year old + cars are worth next to nothing, due to the complexities of over engineered knuckleheads in Germany. Go out and buy an old Benz, wrench on it and take something that was once amazing and bring it back to life for 5% -10% of the original MSRP.I highly recommend this scanner for its capabilities of looking into the specific modules (bi-directional) at an affordable price. Though this scanner is amazing, you can’t damage your car if you don’t know what your doing. Don’t expect to reprogram keys, or adjust complex systems like the Mercedes Star scanner. It’s something anyone can use and save thousands from the dealerships.

Foxwell Support is not Worth it
I regret purchasing this scanner. From the beginning, I ran into issues with the product, and my experience with Foxwell’s technical support only made things worse.Initially, they seemed helpful, but every reply just sent me on another task to try at home without resolving anything. Their instructions were vague and incomplete—each step just created more confusion. For example, they asked me to download TeamViewer and provide them with an ID and password, which I was willing to do, but they never explained how that would help restore the scanner or what the next step would be.I even offered to call them directly at my own expense (they're located in China), just to get the issue resolved more efficiently. Despite the time and effort, I put into troubleshooting, their support team showed no real interest in helping. It felt like they were just stringing me along without any intention of solving the problem.I don’t appreciate being misled. If Foxwell had no intention of properly supporting their product, I would’ve preferred honest communication instead of wasted time and false promises. I cannot recommend this scanner or this company.

For occasional use.
Can scan all the modules in Mercedes W164 ML 350.It can show live data, erase codes.Very slow to scan, good for occasional use.If you're looking to check transmission fluid temp. It's hidden under the sub-menu "Shift".

works with my 2019 mercedes sprinter 4x4
I bought an open box one directly from amazon June 2024. Worked without needing any updates on my 2019 sprinter 4x4 3.0D. I did have to manually enter the vin. My swivel seat cut the the power wire to my seat airbag when something was accidently left under the seat. When I fixed the wire, SRS fault happened. Dealer wanted $250 to clear the code. This device was ~$100 with tax and cleared the code. It is small so I will keep it with me in the van case I get warning or fault in a remote area. I am sure there are more advanced and larger ones, but this one did the trick.

Saved me money in fixing my window issue
I bought a used 2011 Mercedes E-350 Cabriolet, that had an issue where the drivers window would come halfway down after raising it. You had to mess with it 2-3 times to get it to stay up. Also the rear window wouldn't index. I went through all the window indexing fixes dozens of times. Took it to the place where I bought it and they couldn't fix it either. Not even the local garage. After reviewing many code scanners, I decided on the Foxwell NT510 Elite. It took a while to figure out how to get to the place I needed to get to to test and control the windows by making them go up and down using the device, but once I got there, the bi-directional control mode was awesome. I "denormalized" the window, then reset it. Then both windows started working again. Pretty cool you can make the door locks, lights, seats, and almost any function operate to test them. Who knows, maybe I can control and drive the car remotely?I didn't try the windows on the test drive because it was 98 degrees, so I bought it before noticing the issue. The non-Mercedes dealer tried to get out of fixing the issue, so we agreed to share the cost. Now I don't have to come out of pocket to get the windows working like they were supposed too. It may not had cost as much as the scanner, but my old code reader was useless on the systems this vehicle has. I'm going to order the GM software, so this will be my new go to code reader.
