Krups SS-207803 12-Cup Replacement Carafe with Cover

This coffee pot is perfect and then some! Shipped quick and was well wrapped.

I love my Krups Savoy coffee maker that I've had for a couple of years now, and think it's probably the best coffeemaker I have ever owned, and I was very worried I would have to replace it and get a new one when I accidentally dropped and cracked the glass carafe when I was washing it out in the sink. I am super pleased and relieved to find that this glass carafe fits and will work with it!

This carafe is just like the one I had that cracked. Replacement prevented having to buy a new coffee maker.

The pot fits my Krups coffee maker, but the original pot (which broke) had a lid that attached securely to the top of the handle and could be flipped up. This lid barely slots into the handle and falls off at the slightest provocation. It also has to be removed entirely to fill the pot, as opposed to the original, whose lid flipped up. Terrible design, but the pot still works.

The lid that was attached to the original carafe that shipped with the coffee maker was hinged, i.e. permanently attached, and could not be removed for cleaning. This made it impossible to fit into our dishwasher. A coffee carafe that cannot occasionally be cleaned in a dishwasher is of little use to me. When I tried to remove the lid of the original I managed to break off the plastic hinge pin which made using the thing difficult. This older design carafe comes with a lid that is held in place with friction. It will no doubt loosen over time but is still preferable to one that has a cover that cannot be removed. And it costs about $10 less. After a week of use we are happy with the purchase.

It replaced the one I broke and it fits the Krups coffee maker just fine. A couple of minor issues: The lid seems to snap on but does not stay. You will need to keep your thumb on the top of the handle while pouring or the lid could fall off. Also, the handle itself is not tight enough to stay in place but rotates a bit around the pot causing the the lid to partially cover the pour spout. You can push the base of the handle where the metal ring is to get it back in place, but it is just annoying. I think the orange tube the extends down from the underside of the lid is more of a gimmick and less of a functional piece. It may guide the coffee down the tube but for what purpose? I think replacement pots are way too expensive in general but I saved a few bucks with this one.
