The Best Sharpener Available And Well Worth The Price!
What do I like so much about this sharpening stone?I have tried all of the different whetstones out there, as well as sharpening stones, honing rods, etc..I always sharpen my own tools and also my own chef's knives as well as a few camping knives. This is the best diamond sharpening "stone" on the market. For example I must have used my first one for over four years and just a month ago bought this one to replace it! And I use this a lot. I do a lot of high end residential installation, so all of my equipment, as in cutting pliers, pocket knives, (we uncrate and unwrap tons of expensive art pieces) razor knives, and I even sharpen my awls. With this diamond bench stone I can get the edge back on my pocket knife to razor sharp in about 5 minutes. One of my installers gets a kick shaving in front of the crew with one of my pocket knives that has an exceptionally good blade right after I sharpen it. I also cook a lot and I always sharpen my cooking knife set either before of after I used them. Depends on how many times I have used them that month. This bench stone does such a great job that I really have to remind myself not to put to much pressure on the edge of the blade as I stroke it along the bench stone.Sooo... If you get one of these you will know what I am trying to describe in a minute. This bench stone is so useful, it works so well, and also so quickly that it is just a pleasure to sit down and use it. And don't think that just because it has some diamond abrasive materials that it will ruin your blades. It is quite the opposite. The fact that you can really only use light strokes with very little pressure allows your blades a much longer "use" time. By like double or triple its usual lifetime. And that is because you aren't grinding down the overall steel as much as you would using anything else every time you use it!If you ever have your tools or knives sharpened by grinding, that process, although it gives you an incredibly sharp edge, also reduces the width of your blade each time it has been sharpened by grinding. And you can get a very very similar incredibly sharp edge just using this bench stone without losing any of your steel. So I really love this bench stone. I couldn't run my business without it. I really recommend trying this one out. And I am probably understating how long I had it before I replaced it. I probably used it for closer to six years now that I am writing and thinking about it.

My go-to sharpener for almost everything
I have over a dozen sharpening tools. Six are whetstones of various qualities, including the insanely expensive Japanese stones. The DMT system is so far advanced in efficiency it’s difficult to describe. The only use left for my expensive collection of whetstones is for putting the final edge on my straight razors (just before stropping). I use the DMT for all tool sharpening and for creating new edges in difficult steels such as stainless. These don’t develop waves or low spots like whetstones, and in fact these can be used to reface / restore wavy whetstones. Definitely worth every penny and cleanup is a breeze with soap and water. The DMT stone holder is a genius design and is superior in quality. Definitely my go-to sharpening tool.

Coarse stone not-so
This is a great tool. My only complaint is that DMT's sense of "coarse" isn't the same as mine. The coarse side of this stone is about the same as a medium India stone, and the "fine" side is a bit more abrasive than a washita stone. That makes this pair of stones useful for maintaing kitchen knives, once you have them in shape. If you have serious work to do, buy the Extra-coarse/Coarse and pair it with the Fine/Extra-fine stones. The base is well-designed and perfect addition.

Sharpen with ease, Coarse/Fine repaired chipped edge
This is my first sharpening stone other than some stick and pull through style sharpeners. After watching some videos on technique and few practice sessions with keeping the angle consistent I was able to get the stubborn chips out of my kitchen knives easily with the coarse/fine combo. This sharpens dry or with a splash of water and the fine side is great for an occasional touch up when the strop is no longer bringing an edge back to life. The base is stable with the rubber feet and the clips hold the stone flat and firm. No complaints from me.

Quality product.
Its large size allows for long and wide strokes. And it’s sturdy. No oil to deal with. Just add a bit of water and get a razor sharp blade. Rinse, dry and put away.No mess. No fuss.

Quick and reliable way to get all your knives sharp.
Purchased the Fine / Coarse DuoSharp about a year ago and it's all I use on my kitchen and fixed blade knives. I also bought DMT's extra fine stone which I finish off with a strop to get the hair splitting edge. The base is a smart, efficient design and it securely holds the diamond stones in place. The rubber feet keep the base from moving and 8" surface is ideal for large kitchen knives. Ever since I showed the wife how to maintain the edges, I haven't needed to use the coarse side of the stones for a while. Properly maintaining your knives is crucial.I have had friends that brought me completely dull knives and had to use the coarse side to help hone the edge profile quicker before I went to the finer grits.Spraying the diamond stones with a little water provided me with better results and also helps me keep the surface clean.Overall, I'm very happy with this set and I get quick, reliable results every time. Sharp knife = happy wife.

Sharpens well.
The “stone” is nice. I have the coarse 325 and fine 600 combo. The plastic base is cheap. Better than nothing ... but not by much.

Spettacolo!!!

Good price. The stand works better than I expected.
I bought this stone to true up my chisels and plane irons. I already had another one of these in different grits. Now that I've got a set that goes from coarse to ultra fine my sharpening gets done quickly. And the stand works well and it's quick and easy to swap out stones.
