Jack and the Beanstalk (Storytime Lap Books)

My son has a phonological disorder and we are working on our "f" sound. I got this book to work on it and he loves it. He brings it for me to read several times a day. Its a bit pricey but its really good quality and the pics are cute. While I know the story doesn't necessarily have a good lesson, that is the version I heard as a kid and I didn't grow up thinking that stealing was OK.

Loved the book, particularly the thick pages, perfect for the little readers. This book is beautiful, the illustrations and the story is the same as when I was a child.

The art work is beautiful and engaging and the story is classic. My grandchildren are under the age of two and I appreciate the sturdiness of the board book .

The pictures were large with vibrant colors and text simple enough to read-a-loud and to share with lower elementary students. The story was the original version - exactly what I needed!

How can you not love this book??

Best illustrated book for kids.

The book is a sturdy hard backed book and great for not so careful toddlers. While I’m glad my grandson seemed to like the book, I’m disappointed that the story doesn’t read as I remembered it to be. In this version, Jack basically steals from the giant and no explanation is given as to why except to say he/mother were poor. Not a great message to send- it’s not ok to steal! I remembered the story to be more along the lines of the mean giant stole from Jack’s father/parents leaving them penniless. Jack had a chance meeting to sell his cow in exchange for the magic beans that grew up into the clouds where the giant lived. Jack was portrayed as being justified to retrieve the items that rightfully belonged to his parents. I may not remember it exactly but I know the old message was much better than what is in this version.

The illustrations by Giuseppe Di Lernia are wonderful! We’ve bought at least three books like this one because of him. The classic tales are told so beautifully thanks to Giuseppe.

Love this author . The large pictures, and heavy board pages make this an ideal book for toddlers. It’s very big but I feel it makes the book more engaging . I’m going to look for more books by this author .
