It's humane and it works well
I bought this nearly 18 months ago when a distinctive wee mouse with a ragged ear took to running under the floorboards to follow me around the house, ignoring all the electronic deterrents. Where ever I was he popped up staring at me, it was quite disconcerting. I caught him within 24 hours and the next day caught his wee friend. This year I've caught one a day for the last 4 days I've deployed it, all unharmed, all released into the fields far away from my house. I don't begrudge them life, just not at the expense of my woodwork and they were super noisy at night. So, the trap has lasted well, its a bit fiddly initially to set it to trigger to go off at the very light weight of a mouse but I persevered an hour or so to get it right. You have to bending the wee loop and wire a little so the trigger is only just caught in it so the tiniest pressure on the platform inside sets it off. The hook the cheese goes onto is discoloured now from use but there is no damage to the trap at all. As the trap is so big there is also no chance of them trapping their tail when it slams shut (one of the main selling points for me) and most just end up sitting there, scoffing the cheese, bemoaning their loss of freedom till I release them into the great outdoors. I admit I think I over estimated the size of trap I'd need but heck, if I ever get rats it'll work for them too I guess. I like it so much I bought a second one yesterday so I can place them in two spots I've caught mice before. That said I've now also wire meshed all the airbricks into the house so hopefully it's just a precaution. Recommend the trap, it's a good buy for the money and it lasts. I think I paid around 18 to 20 quid for each.

Excellent trap. Easy to use and works great.
I ordered this when I realised we had a rodent problem in our attic. I didn’t want to use snap traps and these seemed like a good alternative. I purchased three different types of trap and this was the only one of them that worked. The trap is easy to set and the control bar gives enough control to allow the trap to be set as a ‘hair trigger’ which is needed for small rats or mice as I’ve discovered my other larger trap didn’t close even when a rat took all of the bait. I used peanut butter as bait and got results in four days. It took two days for the rat to get used to the trap and on the third day it was sniffing around, then on the fourth it ventured inside and was trapped. Use gloves and a cardboard box to transport the trap as the captured rodent leaves droppings and wets the area. The droppings and urine carry diseases so it’s important to make sure they are cleaned up and not dropped while transporting the trap. Make sure you release the rodent a long way from your home, at least a mile, preferably several miles otherwise they will return. I drive out into the countryside and let them go into the fields.

Effective but flimsy
Mechanism works ok but could do with being a bit LONGER and STRONGER. LONGER : As you might expect, the adult rat was very wary of this device. I figured i'd have one chance and if i didn't get it the first time, it wouldn't go near it again. So i baited the trap without setting the mechanism (there's a handy clip to lock it open without setting it) and observed it via a trail cam. To start, it just stretched its body to reach the bait at the end without putting its hindlegs inside. It was triggering the plate but i doubt the door would have closed properly with the rat still partly outside. Hence the need for a longer trap - needs to be a least another 30% longer i reckon. STRONGER: Before i caught the adult, I caught 3 small young rats. After the first one, i realised I needed to replace/reinforce the bar that locks the door because the trapped animal had managed to bend it almost to the point it would be able to force its way out. I suspect if i'd caught the fully grown adult it would have broken out. Footnote: 3 juvenile rats now enjoying their new countryside abode, 1 mile away from my home :)

Well made, easy to (re)set.
I normally only ever seen two rats that visit our garden in deepest Winter when they come to raid the bird food, and the infrequency of their visit hasn't bothered me. However, in the last few months there were a some bold new rat visitors we didn't recognise, who were jumping about in the garden like they owned the place. So I bought this humane rat trap with the idea of catching them and releasing them over the fields away from my property. I set the trap and waited... And haven't seen a rat since. I know rats are normally neophobic, so the presence of the trap takes a bit of getting used to, and I had no expectations that they would rush into it, but despite not actually catching a rat yet, my garden has been visibly rat free now for weeks. So the trap hasn't caught anything, but it's mere presence on the run they were taking to get into my garden seems to have solved the problem (or some neighborhood cat has caught on to the new nest). The trap is well build, springs firmly, and easy to reset (when I actually set it off by kicking it). It's placed conspicuously where I can see it (because I don't want the little critters to get trapped and starve) but it isn't offensive looking in a garden environment. Seems to have solved my problem in an unexpected way.
