Let It Code!
I've been a big supporter of Kano for a while and bought this product for my friend's daughter, who loves Frozen. She's been entranced by the kit and has been excitedly telling her Mom and I about all the the she has made (and the things she wants to make next). I love how accessible Kano makes programming! My friend's daughter had never shown any interest in coding before, but it's clearly opened up a new world for her! Her Mom is so excited that she's getting positive screen time.

Worth way more than 29.99!
This thing is awesome. Got it for my 5 year old which may be a bit too young (kids need to read well-ish to play). But I even like playing with it! The entire experience from un-boxing, putting together, installing software, and getting started is awesome. I'm in the customer experience field and they nailed it. Super fun, engaging, and it actually teaches. Highly recommend.

App is not easy to download
Once you get this working, it works well. It is a bit hard for my daughter who received this for her 8th Birthday. There are tutorials, which is where she spends most of her time as it shows you exactly what to do to make it work vs adding custom code.I will say though, I was to the point I wanted to return this because I couldn't get the App. We have an 8th Gen Fire Tablet and the App does not download. It's also unavailable on iPhone. I ended up having to download it for desktop on a Mac. Once downloaded, the computer told me it will work best when moved to applications. Did this and then it didn't work - it just kept shutting down. Deleted it and reinstalled (not adding to applications) and now it seems to work just fine.My sole intention was she could have it on her Fire tablet, but for now she'll just have to use it on the laptop.

Doesn't Work - Online-Required App No Longer Supported
The core of this product is an sign-in required app that does the coding. It's broken because the company that did it got out of the business and turned off their computers. So you can't use this thing to do the code because you can't create an account.Frustration awaits if you try to create an account. The app tells you, "something went wrong" every time you pick a username. If you try to go to the URLs mentioned in any of the documentation, you get 404 or security errors from your browser and cannot get to the sites.Doing some Googling with a frustrated kid by my side, I found out Kano stopped being in the educational software business in January of 2023 because they were losing millions of pounds (they're a UK firm) a year. None of the websites Kano used to run for educational software work anymore; either they don't resolve or they don't let you go anywhere useful. As a result, returning as defective -- there's no coding game attached to this motion-sensitive blinky paperweight anymore.

Good kit, not so good app
The kit itself is fine. My kid thought it came with a pad according to outside of the box. I installed the app on my ipad. The app is a bit disappointing. 3 issues I noticed:1. Crashed from time to time2. Code block disappeared due to some accident touch on some spot I should not touch.3. Sometimes there’s no prompt on how to proceed when we thought we were done with the code. Have to restart again.

Good product for kids
I bought this for my 7 year old granddaughter and she loves it. It is very easy to do. It is a very good thing to give your kids as it teaches them coding, a very marketable skill these days and it is very educational.

Excellent value
My daughter loves it, shes convinced its magic no matter how many times I go over how the light sensors work. Very responsive, excellent value. The app is bluetooth only and available on either desktop or iPad, just a heads up, I tried to find it in the google play store but couldn't

Cool Concept, But Back to the Drawing Board
I got this as a gift for my son for Christmas, he's seven, so it was between this option and the Star Wars one. I thought that Frozen was something that either my son or daughter may find fun, so that's how we landed on this one. I went all out for this and bought a new tablet to go along with it to make sure the screen size was reasonable and the old tablet was too old for what this requires. Anyway, this item was definitely not geared to a seven-year-old. It is not very user- friendly, and the directions are nearly useless. Once you have it set up, and you are into the app (make sure you choose the right app), you are on your own, and it is not easy to figure out. My son played with it for about an hour before he got really frustrated, I tried to help him, and I wasn't able to figure out why we were struggling so bad. I think this product really needs to be worked with more, either more instructions, or maybe build up to what a kid can access so they are learning along with it. My nine year old got the Harry Potter wand and seemed a lot less frustrated, but that one also seems like they put more time into design.

App doesn’t work. Money spent for nothing
The app that must be use to use this coding kits is not working. Money spent for nothing and a really sad kid for Christmas. So disappointed!!!Amazon should do their due diligence and should not be selling this as you can’t use the is product!!!

Great, buy it
I’m not normally one for product reviews, but this product is exceptional. Our eldest (6) has played with Scrathjr and a variety of coding toys over the years but nothing has captured her imagination as much as this. The instant feedback from changing variables in coding blocks really reinforces the learning whilst being fun at the same time.Couple of observations to be aware of, it requires Bluetooth v4 or newer, Mac’s from about 2011 onwards have this but the 2010 macbook air hand me down the kids use doesn’t.Whilst it works on an iPad Mini, the screen is a little too small to really get everything on. shouldn’t be a problem on a bigger iPad.We paid around £30 list is apparently £80 which is a little high, anything under £50 is still great value

Absolutely Awful
Built this with my daughter who was excited to learn coding.Irronically for 'coding' product the website it directs you to get the accompanying app won't load as it is insecure. Grabbing the app from the app store is also a challenge. Once downloaded you cant proceed unless you create a login, which fails every time. Tried on Apple devices, Android devices and Windows machine. Nothing works. Device is pretty much useless without the app so now left with a plastic box with no functionality. Can not find anyway to contact Kano to resolve the problem.DO NOT BUY

Great for what it is! Lost a star for not connecting to Kindle Fire 10.
Child (6) was excited to build the sensor and follow the booklet.Unfortunately we did not get very far on the Kindle HD 10, it refused to connect despite multiple attempts and reboots and reinstalls. As expected no response to support request because it's Christmas. But worked fine on Windows 10. This is the Scratch coding platform which is designed for 8+. Even if younger kids are keen and get the general idea of coding it can be tricky to drag-n-drop to small targets with a trackpad so assistance will be required to avoid frustration. Also the friendly popups get in the way, some block the canvas from working and some do not.But bearing those in mind this is does what it intends, making coding interesting to small people.Hopefully we'll revisit it when she's a bit older.

Great value
My daughter loves this even though she is a bit young for it, we have done all the challenges though and she isn't really ready to make her own creations yet. There seems to be a whole extra set of challenges unrelated to frozen on the Kano site as well though so we are doing these as well. I am happy that my daughter is showing an interest in coding and it makes me smile when she asks if she can do Elsa Anna coding.
