This iron worked great the times I used it. Unfortunately, the night I was packing to go out of town it fell apart....

When my sister told me she wanted a cordless iron for Christmas I was worried about finding a good one since I had never heard of such a thing. My doubts were well founded too, it seams most cordless irons suffer greatly from lack of heat and quick loss of what little heat they have. So I decided to look for an iron that can be cordless when mobility is needed and corded when constant heat is needed. I think I only found three such irons at the time (fall of 2006) and this was the only reasonably priced one. I was very worried, however, because this iron had no reviews and seemed to be a new product. My sister LOVES it. She fully admits that, when cordless, it doesn't hold heat for long, but she isn't silly enough to try ironing all of her clothing cordlessly. She used the cordless feature when she is making dresses (she is currently making her own wedding dress) and she loves that she can pick up the iron, walk over to her dress form, and iron a stubborn bit of fabric while she can see just how the dress will look. Do be warned that handling the iron roughly can cause dings to the surface that can snag material (somehow hers got dropped). My sister was so sad when she discovered the rough spots on her iron she almost bought herself another one, she says it is absolutely necessary for working on her dress. Luckily a bit of sanding with some wood-working tools (I think it was a finishing stone, it came with my mom's little Dremel tool) and the iron is perfect again. So far she's had the iron for over a year and a half and those easily fixed dings were her only problems. An overall great iron.

For many years, I had a Black and Decker cordless iron that was a gem, so when it died, I expected to find similar quality in this one. Boy, was I disappointed! It's difficult to place in the holder, it began falling apart almost immediately, and it doesn't heat consistently when placed in the holder. The other day, after ironing for a couple of hours, I was ready either to take a sledge hammer to the thing or to head for the nearest bar to drown my frustration (and I don't drink!). I definitely would not recommend this poorly made item and plan to order a better brand as soon as I finish writing this review - cordless irons are still tops in my book.

Why are all of the Black and Decker iron reviews attached to this 10-piece sewing machine presser foot set?

I bought this product in 12/06. I was very pleased with the concept of the Cordless Iron it was easy to use and was nice not having that cord to drag around while in use. Problem was that it is creaked and squeaked and did not feel sterdy. After about 4mos it began to come apart the handle, water tank, and docking station. Also the base of the docking station deformed from the heat. What I noticed at that point that the manufacturer supplies no warranty information and only the manufacturer address information w/ no phone #s or website. I've now had this product for a little over 1yr 1mo it has now cease to function. I paid over $60 for this thing, it is good to see that they've decrease the price, but it not worth the investment to me at any price unless it can last more that 3yrs min

The total "wireless time" you can iron is 2 minutes... takes longer than that to fully flatten a sleeve for ironing... plus the charger needs counter or ironing board space... as a corded iron it's bulky and heavy and lacking in features of any number of much cheaper irons...
