Silverback Fixed Blade Hunting Knife with Sheath & Ferro Rod - Ideal for Camping, Hiking, and Outdoor Activities - Holtzman's Gorilla Survival

So I don't often write all-glowing reviews; I like to be honest and critical. This may just be the nicest product I've ever purchased from Amazon. I watched a few reviews on YouTube about this knife and decided it was just what I needed (I actually did need one in this size range). I was pretty impressed with the videos I watched, but it was nothing to how impressed I've been since receiving it! First of all, it's beautiful, like a work of art. Next, it is VERY solid and has some weight to it. I have average sized-mens hands and it fits perfectly! I've never had a knife with a G10 handle before, but I really like the texture; it is comfortable without scratching the flesh, yet grips well even when wet. The blade holds and takes an edge very well. I've dabbled a bit with forging and while I'm no accomplished knife maker, it has given me an eye for quality and this knife is of higher than average quality. Next, the Kydex sheath is so well made that I've decided that for my purposes I don't need the retention strap and removed it. Lastly, the ferro rod and striker are a nice touch and work very well. This is going to make a great camping knife, or if you have a Bug Out Bag this would be a great addition to it. I would highly recommend this knife to anybody; friends, family, and whoever reads this review.

So I've been collecting knives my entire life. I have purchased from the extremely cheap to the expensive custom knives. I have to give this company some major credit. Out of the box, razor sharp. Fit and finish is amazing for the money. Well balanced and feels great in the hand. The palm swell allows you to really get a hold of this knife. Sheath gets an A+. Super tough and good retention of the knife and accessories. The presentation out of the box made me feel like I was purchasing a $400 knife set. A lot of class from this company I must say. They definately go the extra mile without killing your wallet. I won't comment on durability just yet but thus far, this gets a 10 out of 10.

Holtzman knives are the best quality knives i have ever owned. I first bought the neck knife and the quality was amazing. Then I ordered the Silverback and the knife was even better the the first. The knife is razor sharp. It has completed any task i have put it through. Its just a perfect knife. The sheath was tight but would rattle when you walked around with it on your side. I was just going to live with it but decided to message the company. I am so glad I did. They are so easy to work with. They stand behind there products. They took great care of me. I will definitely be buying from this company again. If you want a quality knife at a great price you cant go wrong with this knife. You also get a company that stands beside there products, which is hard to fine in today's times.

I usually never write reviews of the things I buy but for this occasion I will take the time to do it cuz this knife deserves it, I've owned many knives from big known companies to small ones and this is one of the best ones has a perfect length a nice thick spine the D2 steel is great, the knife has an awsome weight to it and the handle is one if not the most comfortable one I've had, I took the knife for camping the day after I bought it and chopped tree bark and cut wood feathers to make my fire with the ferro rod and everything worked perfectly, also the sheath is really nice and secure and you can set it for carrying the knife horizontal or vertical or which is a great feature. Overall this is an awsome knife and can't beat the price so I'll suggest this one to everyone out there looking for a great knife without spending too much.

Beautifully packaged, though this was a gift to myself. All by itself, the knife is really great. Superb balance and construction. Full tang. SUPER comfy in my hand. The sheath is superb, customizable, which is great. The striker and ferro rod are convenient touches, which you can carry or not if you want on the sheath; or you can put them on the paracord that comes in the package. All in all, a great value on a really nice knife. I also interacted with the owner of the company, and he was very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Recommended.

Its a very strong durable knife that holds a very nice edge and can take a beating and no damage after 3 years of use

Very sturdy, well balanced, clip-point bushcraft knife. Handle scales are of oval shaped micarta. Fits the hand nicely with no fatigue issue. The blade steel is D2, which is excellent, tough knife steel with excellent edge retention properties. The factory edge on the knife it arrived with was crap. It would not even cut a piece of paper. Ten minutes on angle guide whetstones put a vicious edge to the d2 steel. The spine of the knife is a full 1/4 inch, heavy enough to tackle any outdoor camp/hunting/survival task. the included kydex sheath if fine and on the deluxe model comes with a ferro rod and tool steel 90degree striker. It's a compact package with a fine handling brute of a knife. The only thing to better the assembly would be a leather sheath with a hanger strap if you are a fan of that belt set-up... solid knife, quality steel and construction.. worth the money.

This is one of the six knives I've purchased (so far) from Holtzman's. It came very sharp but with a bit of touch-up on my steels and stones, and a few passes on the strop and it was truly hair-popping sharp. One of my knives came missing the Ferrocerium rod. I contacted Holtzman's through their website and all I can say is that their customer service exceeded all my expectations. These knives are highly recommended. They also make great gifts, "thank you" presents, and performance rewards.

this might be the nicest knife I own. the handle is immensely comfortable with no hot spots in either a standard or reverse grip, and the customizable kydex sheath is perfect. the blade itself can take a beating and retain its edge nicely, and D2 steel is very low maintenance

The knife itself is very nice. Heavy, solid, and holds an edge--so far. I've noticed, with use, the sheath loosens a bit at the front, so that the knife rattles slightly. Hasn't really been an issue, just an observation. I figured, with use, there'd be loosening. I've noticed the edge cuts into the securing strap slightly per time put back in sheath. It is still holding up, but has a noticeable etch out of it. The striker doesn't secure like it did, either. Falls out if I don't make sure it's pushed down. The knife itself is still one the best I've owned.

It is very sharp from the factory. It is sturdy and heavy. The sheath is good, I like the sheath very much and it can be unscrewed/disassembled for changing the features and removing the useless leather snap strap that is supposed to prevent the knife from falling out of the sheath. The leather strap lasted ~3 minutes and it was cut by the very sharp blade as I removed the knife from the sheath and placed the knife back into the sheath. So that leather retention strap is totally not a useful feature. I am ~6 feet/184cm in height and the size of the knife handle is so undersized for my hand that the knife is not safe to operate and so it is now in the closet and never to be used. I will probably give it away because of the short little knife handle to somebody that needs a knife. Not recommended to people with larger hands but for smaller hands it is a nice knife and does not cost too much for what you get when compared to many knives for sale out there.

Le fourreau est parfait et convient pour la plupart des ceintures de taille moyenne. Le fourreau semble être de très bonne qualité, très pratique et utile pour éviter de perdre son couteau, car il est bien tenu dans le fourreau, même s’il est détaché. Le fourreau peut être personnalisée à votre goût, ce qui le rend polyvalent. Le manche du couteau semble aussi de bonne qualité, très confortable en main et bien balancer par rapport à la lame. La sensation en main est vraiment confortable. La lame était bien affûtée à son arrivée. Après quelques sorties et utilisation elle est toujours affûté. Je suis satisfait
