ARK: Survival Evolved (PS4)

Perfect my son loves this game

Overall I love playing this game, what's not to like about a game that let's you ride a Dinosaur into battle? The game uses the same engine as Conan Exiles and has many similar features which make game play on the PS4 fun but occasionally fiddly. I mostly play in PVE mode, chiefly for the reason that on PVP mixed PVE/PVP servers there are too many <redacted> out to ruin things for everyone else, your experience may differ from mine!I enjoy the open world survival aspects and there is a reasonable mix of crafting / survival and exploring combat to keep you entertained. Crafting can be fiddly and until you get used to it frustrating. Taming Dinos as followers is a key aspect and you soon find you are either stamp collecting species or building a reasonable squad of creatures to explore the more dangerous locations like caves. My biggest gripe is the creature AI for tames is pretty much direct line of sight with virtually no allowance for terrain like rocks and trees, so a stroll through a wooded area which starts with maybe 10 dinos comes out the other side with maybe half that number, the rest being stuck behind the trees and rocks you had walk around to get through and that's with zero attacks. So you find you are constantly retracing steps to pick up stragglers. Caves are even worse for such AI losses I have about 7 Dinos all stuck behind rocks in one cave where they have walked, line of sight into a part of the map they can't walk out of. What would help here is a feature from Conan Exiles where you can teleport followers (minus kit) to you that get stuck in this way. AI glitches aside I'm still having fun exploring the map and building up my menagerie of creatures (even if most of them are Dilophosaurs).
