It's very effective in removing oil and and cleaning the chimney filters however please be mindful of wearing gloves. I use only 2 spoons so, it's going to last you very long. It's value for money. It doesn't have any smell.

Quality is fine, but I received less quantity than mentioned in the package.

I bought this to clean the kitchen chimney. Unscrewed the mesh and oil collector and immersed both the items in a tub containing water with 5 teaspoons of castic soda. Kept it for 15 min post which used a tooth brush to clean the oil from the mesh and container. It cleaned everything. Water was thrown away and I repeated the activity once more. After two cycles everything was as new as before. It took me 3 hrs to complete this activity. Precaution taken during cleaning was a face mask and gloves as the solution is itchy and irritating. It may also damage your hands skin if in contact for long time. Giving 4 starts as the quantity required to clean is on the higher side. Rest is all fine.

I have bought this product a few times for removing the oil deposited in chimney filters as it is very effective in doing so. The description recommends keeping the filters in water for three hours but I have found that just five minutes is good enough. Make sure you open the doors and windows of the kitchen before you begin the cleaning. Wear household rubber gloves, inhale deeply and hold your breath before pouring the water on the caustic soda to avoid inhaling the fumes. Then move away and let the filter stay in the water for five minutes. Throw away the dirty water and then wash the filter with tap water. Clean one filter at a time.
