Very sturdy glass jar. Great for those Costco runs.
First off, you will need pliers to get that ring on. A set of needlenose pliers will work best. I have 2 of these filled with rice and pasta. These are what you need after a Costco or Sam's Club run and you buy a 5 Lb sack of rice, beans or whartever. The handle is hard to get on but once on, you can left a good 20 lbs of goods in the jar without the handle falling off. The glass was clear, no blimishes or bubbles. I will buy more of these as I need them.

Nice pickle jar.
I am shocked beyond belief that my jar arrived intact !!! They drag the packages behind the truck here in my neighborhood. The only thing I would do different is pad the handle better instead of allowing it to bang around inside of jar. Well done.

Size Does Matter
whoever said it doesn't never seen this glass. This 2.5 Gallon Barrel Jar is perfect for your liquid needs. Now on that note I like to address some other reviewers mentioning of the included old school type metal wire handle. The handle is easy enough to install if you look closely how it should and obviously could be installed. Some say the handle is not perfect and I do agree with that. But let me try basic math here. 2.5 Gallon liquid = about 20 lbs. Yup I am pretty sure I would not try to hold that glass filled with liquid and that handle. I think its more as decoration or if you have some light weight items in the glass. I personally will lift the glass with two hands so i wont break it. I actually got the 1 Gallon version also. Nice jar but the bale is hard to get on.
Nice jar, but no bale. The “bale” comes separately, but I had a hard time putting the bale on. I eventually got it to fit. It’s a lovely jar.

Would of had a 5 star but....
Well packaged is multi layer compressible cardboard. Box in a box and labeled fragile. The glass was smooth, no chips, cracks or thin areas. The glass is a uniform thickness and even throughout. The lid sits even and screws down fairly tight. I knew ahead of time that it is not a water tight seal, you would need to put a gasket in for that. I really like the looks and it goes with my other multi gallons glass storage jars for rice, flower, coffee, etc. My only complaint is that mine did not include the wire bail and wooden handle. Hopefully the manufacturers will send me one. Update 11FEB2023. Now a 5 star and highly recommended due to customer service. Replacement handle was delivered today after contacting customer service [email protected] on 29 JAN. The directions to attach the handle were very simple and easy to follow. It only took maybe 5 seconds to attach it. I did not need any tools to mount it other than pinching the loops closed, nor did anything break while attaching it. I will definitely be ordering more of these 2 1/2 gallon storage jugs. I love them.

Exactly what I was searching for, see photos for how to attach handle
I had a box of hundreds of tiny items from a loved one that needed to be dealt with. My husband and I sorted it out and still had a lot of memories connected to those items that we couldn’t just throw away. I finally came up with the idea of a memory jar. We carefully selected the items we wanted to hang onto until - well, we’ll see. Those precious items are no longer packed away in a box, but they’re also not scattered around the house on constant display. They’re contained, and we can see them when it’s helpful or not see them when it isn’t. The one difficult part of this jar was getting the handle on. I came back and read a bunch of reviews hoping for help, but most people had no solution. I garnered some tips from a few reviews and finally figured it out. It’s tight to get on, but it can be done. The key is to realize that when you’re putting the two loops together, you aren’t putting the metal u-hook through the loop of the opposite piece. You need to just PUT the loop over top of the u-hook, then use the hook on the handle piece to join those two first pieces together. Having an extra set of hands is helpful, but I was able to do it alone. Be sure to have some pliers ready to close up the hook parts on the handle so it doesn’t pop back off. I hope my photos will save a few other people the ridiculous amount of time I spent solving the problem.

Light weight dry storage only
Is ZERO stars an option? Not only is it useless, it’s dangerous. I am trying to eliminate plastics from my environment but a lot of glass has lead. This borosilicate barrel was the best option I found to fill up on purified water at whole foods. But the handle took two people to attach with much effort. Then the lid began to rust & drop rust crumbs into the bottle. And there’s no way to pour except to put smaller containers in the sink with a funnel and slowly tip, aim & pour. But the freaking handle snapped before I could get my hand in the mouth to get a more controlled pour. So my expensive porcelain dish got smashed and my time & money went down the drain with my purified water. This profit driven conglomerate country makes it impossible to live clean. The barrel didn’t break, thankfully. But now my Sunday is wasted cleaning up this mess, filming it and posting this review to save others the hassel. And now I have to go get more water & find another solution to my water storage problem since this hunk of junk ain’t it.
