What is the ring for?

You MUST remove the ring that is on the inside of the Instant Pot lid after EVERY use. Put the ring in the dishwasher on the bottom rack. If you don't wash it in the dishwasher it will smell awful. The ring is what seals the lid onto the cooker so that pressure can be built up to cook your food. I didn't realize that I had to do this and just left it on and hand washed the lid. After cooking pot roast and then pulled pork, I cooked some hard boiled eggs. Phew! The ring was disgusting. I searched Youtube and tried vinegar, bleach, and even put it in the cooker on the Sterilize cycle. Nothing helped. As a last ditch effort before I threw it out, I put it in the dishwasher on the bottom rack and finally the odor was gone. To remove the ring, just grab it anywhere, and pull it out of the channel. After it's cleaned, you will need to push it back into the channel. I just press it down with my thumb. It's not a big deal once you do it a time or two.

Not sure why the ring didn’t work correctly on the onstapot.

Do they fir 8 quart Emeril Lagasse pressure air fryer (10-1/8" -10-1/4" outside diameter)?

I don’t know because I don’t own an Demerol product.
