Will this fit a 15. 6 inch laptop in it. Can shelves be taken or completely?

Yes both shelves are removable so it would definitely take a laptop on its end. But not flat a the internal width is only 14ins. In fact the top shelf could be moved upwards and there would still be enough room to place your laptop on its end.
