Memories and New Rhymes
This book brought back many rhymes I had forgotten over time. Had to smile and even laugh when I first glanced through it from the memories that flooded my brain. Great times as a child jumping rope! Several of my friends and I decided to incorporate jumping rope as a way to help us maintain our health and what figure remains for our 45 plus year old body's. We are also learning new rhymes from the book as well. I did purchase two more copies for my 7 and 9 year old niece's. Enjoy! Note: I read several negative reviews regarding the content/words in some of the rhymes. I respect everyone's right to their opinion, and I am going to express my opinion too. In the 70's and 80's when I used the rhymes as a child, I did not truly understand the meaning of the rhymes nor did majority of my playmates. Yes, most of us were more naïve as children [back in the day]especially when compared to the children today [that is a good thing and a bad thing]. Which brings me to my main complaint, why be upset about the content of the rhymes when children are exposed to the constant bombardment of vulgarity and stupidity shown on TV, the sexual innuendo's and violence in cartoons, video games, the internet [social media sites included], cell phones, etc. These complainers must realize their children, whether willfully or not, probably know way more than we did at their age, and maybe even more than I do at 45 years of age. I would like to offer this advise, please focus on teaching your children how to write in cursive [it will benefit them when they see "Sign Here" on a form], teach them how to use a dictionary, and phonebook. Teach them how to interact socially, speaking with proper verbiage, and the attributes of respect, accountability and responsibility. Perhaps even going as far as being an example to them from a moral and ethical stand point. Thank You

Remember the 4th grade school yard?
"Anna Banana" was at my door in no time! I bought "Jump Rope Rhymes," too. It began when my sister and I were thinking of old times. We moved around a lot, went to a lot of schools: reading the books was like meeting old friends. You don't forget rhythm and rhyme! I scanned a bunch and emailed them too my sister in London! She remembered some, "Miss Lucy had a baby, She Named him Tiny Tim. She put him in the bathtub To see if he could swim..." and I remembered others, "Out walked the doctor, Out walked the nurse, Out walked the lady, With the alligator purse." I wonder if my Mom would have remembered them? She had short term memory problem, late in life. I read Aesop's Fables to her, she always got the moral to the story! The stories were familiar, and just short enough. I looked for as many versions as I could find, and she would say, "I remember that one, but you told it a little different this time." It made me smile! She remembered us, but her history left "a little at a time" and sometimes it was hard to find thing to do, that weren't frustrating for her. The rhymes may have been familiar. PS At 69, I bought a jump rope for exercise (I'm a walker, 3 miles 3/wk).

IF YOU LIKE TRADITION AND TRADITIONAL RHYMES THEN YOU WILL LOVE IT!
I remember growing up having fun with so many different rhymes. The rhymes make skipping more fun! I love the traditional rhymes listed and some new ones that I did not know. It is absolutely fabulous way for a child to connect with your own past and create their own memories. Great book!

Poorly executed
Some inappropriate rhymes for children. Many rhymes just not good. Not recommended for younger children. Requires adult supervision. I would not buy again. I have had repeated issues with the quality of books purchased on Amazon. Purchased for grandchildren and will not be giving book to them. Not recommended.

Anna Banana Jump Rope Rhymes
Great little book!! I can't wait to give it, along with a jump rope I got on Amazon, to my daughter, Anna, in Australia. She is a fourth grade teacher and a fitness nut. I know she will love it. I read it myself, and it took me right down memory lane to the 40's and 50's when I was an avid rope jumper. Many of these verses were the ones we jumped to in the mountains of N.C. I am so glad someone is preserving these jingles. I don't think we can count any more on their being passed down from child to child. Even an adult rope jumper could have fun with this book, particulary if she were teaching a fitness class.
