My Sister Marilyn: A Memoir of Marilyn Monroe Paperback – 29 Dec. 2012

An interesting book written by a surviving relative, someone who knew Norma Jeane, her mother and other members of her family and loved her greatly. Thank you for sharing your life story with us in an effort to correct the record, by giving us the quiet truths, the real picture the intense media spectulation obscured with flashy dramas and gossipy scandal in Marilyn's lifetime.

At first it took me a while to get used to the clumsy writing style of this book. At times it is written beautifully and poetically, at others it feels slightly fragmented. However, having read many books about Marilyn over the years this was by far THE best and most important. Told by her blood sister, we get an insight into Norma Jean as a 3 dimensional human being and it’s quite shocking to hear how much of her past was fabricated. I think this is THE most respectful tribute to a wonderful and talented woman who was often misunderstood and underestimated.

Really enjoyed this book, a no frills honest family story, after so much that has been written about Marilyn this book gave the best insight to her life, and what drove her.

Beautifully written, and an enlightening view on the evolution of Norma Jeane into Marilyn Monroe, her private person and her celebrity entourage from the outsider, no benefit-seeking point of view of her very normal, out-of-show-biz sister Berniece and nephew Mona Rae.

This is a nice book about mm written by her sister its shows she was a person and not the sex symbol it might put some of those rumours about marilyn to rest

Before reading this, I was wondering some things about Marilyn and this book helped me clarify my mind (for instance: why is Dr Mariane Kris in Marilyn's will if she is the one responsible for Marilyn's entrance in a psychiatric hospital?).The author denies many common assumptions about Marilyn and believes her death was an accident.Very good book. A must read for any fan.
