Clears high voltage DTC codes on Chevy Volt.
I can't explain why this little device does more than other scan tools, but it does. I wanted an all in one scan tool that could do GM programming. After research I bought another one in this price range, but it could not clear a high voltage DTC code on my Chevy Volt. This one did it. Also, the seller gets an A+ rating. They helped me install the GSDS program multiple times on multiple devices. They were very patient with my out dated technology.

DONT DO IT! 👎👎👎 STAY AWAY! 🛑✋
Do not... I REPEAT, DO NOT! TRY TO USE THIS FOR AC DELCO, GM SPS2, AS A J2534 PASS THRU FOR PROGRAMMING, THIS WILL NOT WORK! AC DELCO NOW ONLY SUPPORTS WINDOWS 11 PRO, WINDOWS 11 PRO DOES NOT LIKE VX MANAGER! THE DRIVERS WILL NOT INSTALL CORRECTLY AND AS A RESULT, WILL NOT ALLOW THE VXNANO TO SHOW UP AS A SELECTABLE J2534 PASS THRU... WINDOWS 11 PRO, AS WELL HAS A DEFAULT ANTIVIRUS CALLED WINDOWS DEFENDER THAT WILL FIGHT WITH VX MANGER TOO WHILE TRYING TO GET IT WORKING! AT BEST IT MAY INTERMITTENTLY SHOW UP, LONG ENOUGH TO CONNECT TO "TECHLINE CONNECT" THEN TECHLINE WILL NOTIFY YOU THAT THERE IS NO COMMUNICATION!!! AWFUL, TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! PAID $107 TO RENT THE AC DELCO SOFTWARE FOR 3 DAYS!!! LOST ONE DAY OF MY PAID SUBSCRIPTION FINDING OUT THAT NOTHING WAS WORKING AS A RESULT OF THIS DEVICE!!! ALSO THE APP HAS A LOT OF CHINESE DIALOGUE AS DEFAULT... THATS CONFUSING TOO... ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ELSE!!!

Worked great for GM SPS / Techline Connect programming
This little device saved me a bundle. I had a job replacing a 6L80E transmission in a '14 GMC Sierra. Instructions that came with the reman transmission stated the TCM/ECM needed to be updated together with most recent calibration and suggested towing the vehicle to the dealer. A tow plus dealer programming charge would have been several hundred at the very least. No thanks. Did a bit of research and a lot of folks recommended this little jewel. It was very easy-- install VCX Manager, and choose the "J2534 Pass-thru driver" only. For SPS programming, you don't want all the other stuff. No viruses were detected when installing just that feature. I used a Windows 11 Pro 64 bit desktop computer. After VCX Manager is installed, it will show you the device status, and you can update the VCX Nano firmware if you wish. Once GM Techline Connect was installed, it recognized the VCX Nano right away and it was one of the module options when I got into the SPS programming. Paid GM $45 plus tax for the 2-year VIN subscription, and away it went. Updated the ECM/TCM like I was supposed to and all other modules that had fixes/updates. It performed flawlessly and truck / new transmission works great. I can't comment on the GDS2 / Tech2 functionality of this unit (or the supposed virus-riddled software), as I have an expensive scanner that does everything but J2534 Pass-thru. I might play with it someday, but I bought this purely for SDS programming and it was easy. It was also my first time using GM SPS/techline or programming a GM module if that says anything.

Works as Pass thru
My check engine light was on, and my code reader said the likely solution was to update the PCM. I found the reflashing software on Mazda's website for $50 for a 72 hour subscription, but needed a pass thru device. This wasn't exactly easy to use. The software it runs wouldn't work until I corrected a .dll file name that was different from what the .exe was trying to run. The software would not install the included Mazda IDS(which is OK because that isn't why I got this). It had several errors connecting the device and having the software read it. However, after some patience and plugging and replugging, the Mazda software did recognize it and it worked! Updated PCM with Mazda Flashing software and it fixed my check engine light. Saved me a bunch of money/ or a trip to the dealer. Based on previous reviews, I made sure to install an antivirus(Kaspersky) and it didn't detect anything off with this program. Good luck! Not the most user friendly thing, but it saved me a ton of money and time.

The stories of viruses and malware are 100% correct
TLDR - a seemingly well built device that requires software/drivers that are clearly packed with malware. No option to install drivers only and not get the viruses. If you are looking for a solution to communicate with actual licensed factory software this will work, but you shouldn't expect this to provide software for you if you want anything current or legal. First the good - the actual adapter seems solidly built and works well as a j2534 passthrough. I was able to connect with FDRS and FJDS after paying for the 2 day subscription from Ford for $50. Now the bad - I saw multiple reviews mentioning viruses and having to disable antivirus to install. Told myself maybe those folks were mistaken. Sure you get the warnings for unverified publisher etc. but an actual virus? Then I told myself maybe those folks were using the cracked manufacturer software provided which I didn't want. I went directly to the Allscanner website, downloaded VXManager installer and ran it - chose only to install J2534 passthrough functionality - never ran any of the apps that come with it. - The first sign of trouble was my desktop background going to solid black and some of my apps crashing. I ran a scan with Windows Defender and it flagged a malicious program for removal. - Downloaded Bitdefender and did a full scan. Another malicious program hiding in the VX manager apps folder listed as a Trojan. - Went to my control panel to remove - surprise - I had a new virtual VPN that was installed at the same time as the program. - As if all that wasn't bad enough almost all of the "apps" that are in the VXManager folder need "permission to make changes to this computer" when you attempt to open them. Definitely not something one expects to find in software that has already been installed. If I could just have a j25354 driver and not all the dangerous software I'd be fine...

Well, I've now spent a total of 6 hours trying to get this to connect. Suggestion. INCLUDE A READ ME FILE WITH STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO INSTALL THE SOFTWARE!!! Why all the secrecy????

Was a little finicky to get to work correctly. Can find a few online walk throughs to help with order of software install. Once installed works exactly as it should. Can do all Tech2 functions on my 2002 Trans-Am. Pleased.

I would give it 5 stars if it were plug and play. It isnt per-say but it does in fact work and is very easy to use. 1. The tool can be used with the software provided or can be used with actual GMtsd tech2win subscription. 2. With the emulator provided you can do pretty much anything legit subscription can minus programming brand new modules to your car. This does not make the tool garbage...even if you have a gm technet subscription you still need a midi pass-through tool and this tool will do it. 3. As far as I can tell the vxdiag actually only works on windows 10-11. Not XP or 7 or 8. As far as viruses and vpns go my technical opinion is that people's concerns are generally unjustified. If you have any experience with programming cards or say arduino boards there is nothing scary about installing some serial port drivers. Some manufactures use vpn for scan tools and module programming and the passthru tool has that capability. Overall it saved me a few hundred dollars and dealing with the dealership, and it was kinda fun. Having said that, as much functionality as a tech2 has, a modern tool like an Autel Maxi is much easier/faster to use for scanning and diagnostics.
