Don't fall for the hype, because you may regret it.
So reading all the reviews here like best router, awesome range, bla bla bla. I decided to purchase this router. My house is a three storey, so the old D-Link router that was provided with my Airtel Broadband couldn't reach every corner of the house. So I was looking for a router that had very good range on the 2.4 GHz band so that it could reach every corner of the house and provided atleast 8-10 Mbps out of the total 50 Mbps or so (Airtel says 40 Mbps but it varies from 45-55 Mbps) when the signal strength is average. The other routers I considered were the TP-Link Archer C6 and Archer A6. Read some horror stories about the range of 2.4 GHz band on both the routers, so finally decided to go for this. And have to say, very disappointed with the performance of this Tenda router.First of all, credit where it is due. When it works, it is absolutely a beast in terms of range on the 2.4 GHz band. In every corner of the house, even if poor or fair sometimes, the signal does reach. I have it placed in one corner of the house, but the signal does reach the other corner of the house too.But sadly, that's where the fun ends.I have placed it on the middle floor of the house. And my room is immediately above the room where I have placed this router. When it works, it would give signal strength as Excellent. But it is so unreliable, that sitting in the exact same spot, the signal strength would change from Fair to Good to Very Good to Excellent. Even when the signal strength is excellent, out of the 50 Mbps, I only get about 15-25 Mbps in my room. Even when just out outside the room where the router is kept, the speed drops to about 30 Mbps, like not even 5 metres away from the router. Talking about standing right in front of the router, it still gives 40 Mbps or so. So still not the full speed. That is really disappointing. Now talking about the 5 GHz band. I knew what I was getting into before buying this router in this regard. It's range is absolutely below par. If you have anything below 50 Mbps, don't even bother buying this router for the 5 GHz band. A single band router will be much better and cheaper. The range is like the signal strength would Good-Very Good in the next room, but will drop down to Poor-Marginal-Fair if you go further to the next room. The good thing is that it still gives about 30 Mbps on the 5 GHz band when the signal is fair, which is rare in the second room away from where it is kept and the signal mostly is poor. But then again I knew to keep my expectations in check with the 5 GHz band before buying. The funny thing is, when the 5Ghz band has Fair or Marginal signal, it still gives about 25-30 Mbps. When you sit in the same spot, the strength on the 2.4 GHz band would be Good or Very Good, but it's speed will still be only about 12-15 Mbps, which is surprising.Overall, the range is good when it works, but the problem is that it is very rare. I continuously have to keep switching Wifi channel throughout the day to keep the optimal performance. Something I didn't have to do even with my old D-Link router which has a MRP of just âč750. And this router has an MRP of âč5000 on the box. Also, don't know what happens, but suddenly it decides that it isn't gonna work randomly throughout the day and the speed would drop to below 2 Mbps. Even rebooting the router or changing the channel doesn't fix the problem. After sometime, it goes back to normal. It is horrible if you expect consistency in performance from your router, and would probably pull out a few of your hair dealing with the frustration that you will have when it stops working randomly. The Tenda app is really basic and lacks most of the features available on the Web Interface. Kind of useless. Helpful only when you have to reboot the router or check the connected devices quickly and don't want to go and login in the browser.Overall, the thing is, avoid buying this if you can. I couldn't figure out which router to finally choose reading negative reviews of both TP link and D-Link routers, so took a gamble buying this router. A gamble I certainly regret now. Might as well had continued with the old D-Link router and get frustrated with the low signal, saving âč2500 in the process. Atleast that one is more reliable than this.Anyways, if you found my review helpful, mark it as Helpful so that this can reach more people and they can become aware of what they might be buying into and make their decision accordingly. Peace! Also, attached a screenshot to show the performance. This is in my room one floor above where the router is placed. As you can see, the signal strength is excellent but still I'm only getting 15 Mbps. Checked a while back on my desktop which is connected through LAN, I am getting 80 Mbps on my Airtel connection. So definitely an issue with the router here.

Excellent Product
Good product although it's price seems very much higher and they have also removed the wifi off button from behind the router and built quality seems little bit low as compared to its previous models and they have also lowered the power adapter quality to 3 pin to 2 pin adapter but there is no compromise in its signal strength and wifi connection features with ipv6 it have 4 modes to extend the wifi range wirelessly and wired but via wireless repeation method router get inaccessible support teams says they are working on it but other 3 ways are good to connect!!Surely you can go with it đđ»

Decepcionante!

Great router
Bought this item for 2 reasons, the first to increase my WiFi signal from what our Virgin hub provide, the second for the parental controls so we can stop the kids from going online after a certain time. The WiFi signal is better than I thought it would be. We've just moved to a 3 story house with Virginia 350Mbps broadband. My home office is on the top floor off of the master bedroom, on the Virgin WiFi I was luck to get 20Mbps so was forced to run an ethernet cable up to my desk. I also had to install a booster in the garage so I could work from the garden on the few sunny day's we got.So I brought this router, put the virgin hub in modem mode and moved everything over to the new WiFi. I'm wishing I'd done it sooner, I'm now getting 200Mbps+ speeds over the WiFi up at my desk, 100+ in the garden and can even site in my car at the bottom of the garden and get around 40. Could have saved myself the time & effort of running the ethernet if I'd brought this a month or two sooner. The patent controls are also very good. You get the ability to block certain sites for managed devices, or only allow sites you choose. You can also set a schedule so the devices you choose can't access anything outside of the activite hours you set. All devices can be assigned a friendly/custom name on the device list so makes it easier to keep track of what's connected. You cal also set the WiFi to shut off completely on a schedule.

Terrible wifi range, very short power cable, error message initially.
Worse than some Wi-Fi Repeaters.Bought this as I needed a reliable router. My ISP one is Vodafone, terrible. Thought this will be much better. It's not.CONS:-One: the power cable is extremely short. The manufacturer has to understand that not everyone will have their router placed right next to the PC. So I had to rummage round my house to look for an extension plug, move the lead across the entire room just so that I'm able to place this item to an appropriate place in my room where there's no trip hazard. If the power supply cable was 1 more metres long then that wouldâve made things easier for me and others. Two: Weak Wi-Fi signal ranges. After having checked the reviews before purchase, I found that people claimed that the Tenda router Wi-Fi signal range is so good; it extends to some floors as well and easily goes through walls without issues. I found that in my case, this is false. I have placed the router in my sibling's bedroom. Next door is mine where I can see the Wi-Fi signals on my devices are showing 1 or 2 bars. At times, my Vodafone router gives 5 bar signals in the same spot my Tenda router is in but most of the time, it provides 1-2 bars plus weak speed thus I bought the Tenda item. Having 4 Antennas seems kind of pointless and a marketing ploy at this point. Yes, I am aware that setting the Tenda router as AP Mode may make some improvements but in my case, it's still pretty much the same.Three: âNo Internet from Remote Serverâ error message after setting up. I went into the Tenda Login Page (192.168.0.1) and I was given PPPoE Login details from Vodafone. Tried to login after following the instructions provided in the manual in connecting my new router to Vodafone's one but it gives me an error message saying there's âno Internet from the remote server, please contact your ISPâ. Vodafone Broadband support closes after 9pm so I had to find a solution myself. After around an hour of attempting to find a workaround, I found that alternatively, if you connect the Ethernet cable into the WAN port of your ISP's router and the other end into a LAN port of your new Tenda router plus change the setting to 'Dynamic IP Address' rather than âPPPoEâ, it works just fine. So I did this and the Tenda router is finally registered to my ISP. And then you connect the Ethernet cable the other way round in terms of WAN Port FROM the Tenda Router to the LAN port TO your old ISP Router. Then you have to turn off Wi-Fi signal from your old ISP router. Conclusion:After using my newly setup router for an entire day, I am genuinely disappointed with this item. The Wi-Fi signal range as mentioned above from one room to another is not as strong as I expected. Instead of getting the usual 70mbps Wi-Fi speed, I get a feeble 30-40mbps.PROS:-However, the only good points I can give to this item right now is that I get constant Wi-Fi and no drop outs/disconnections so far. So only for this reason and the fact that it took me a while to properly place my extension in my room due to the short power cable, Iâm keeping the item.
