I am very surprised by this sword. I always admired the Metal Gear franchise and thought the Revengence game and Raiden himself looked very cool, despite never getting around to playing the series properly. So it was a bit of gamble buying this sword as it may have just been a display piece for big fans of the game. However, i am frankly blown away with the finish of this sword. While i'm not ready to crack the blade apart to check the grain to see if it's 1045 steel or not, the blade is finished beautifully with a mirror finish and a very smooth blade with an almost invisible bevel. If the sword really is carbon steel (only time will tell, really) i am very surprised to see a blade of this quality at this price point. As for sharpness it is relatively dull but not display sword dull, and it has taken an edge relatively quickly on a whetstone. I can't know for sure to what degree the blade is "handmade" but it does at least look like someone ran it under a power hammer (it's a tool used in forging) and while some may see that as a quality issue, the waves in the blade are unnoticeable to the touch and the slight ripples it creates a certain uniqueness to the blade. To me, that is. Perfectionists might see it a different way. The plastic pins throughout the blade to make it look more like Raiden's blade are of decent enough quality and while they're not flush they don't stick out to an unlikable degree. Of course if it were up to me, not being a big MGS fan, i'd just have the sword without these pegs since the blade has such a lovely finish. But no matter, they're sticking to the game's design. The handle is a very interesting piece. As you can see, it's essentially a bunch of painted piece screwed through the blade, making it full tang. It doesn't have the amazing feel of a proper katana handle but it fits in the hand well enough and is not uncomfortable in the least like i was worried about. The piece closest to the blade can be moved a little bit for me, but not to a disturbing or damaging degree. The sheath is pretty bad, though. A single fake leather piece with a standard should strap on the back. No built-in way to keep the sword in either. Heck i'd take a piece of string over nothing, guys. But no matter. The sword has a lovely blade and a great look. It feels very sturdy but isn't too heavy either. Great for MGS and sword fans alike. Good price point, too. Far superior to most Katana at this price, barring the sheath.

This sword came to my door far earlier than I had expected and I couldn't be happier. The blade it's self looks exactly as shown and is actually surprising/amazingly sharp. That shine on the blade is absolutely beautiful and looks like it does in the game its self. the black dots on the blade are exactly wear there supposed to be. For anyone of ever loved Metal Gear Rising Revengence this blade is a must buy. The price is absolutely reasonable for the high quality detail this blade has so get it whenever you can. To start: I ordered this one April 27 and it arrived on May 1, nice and quick shipping for not being Prime. The Product: Upon opening the box i was pleasantly greeted with decent yet durable packaging which was easy to take off and dispose of. When inspecting the blade an oily substance was present around the hilt and lower part of the blade, which was an easy clean but can be a bit messy for those who don't expect it. The look of the blade is certainly on point with Raiden's HF Blade and has a great overall feel and construction, certainly a kick-awesome addition to any fans of Metal Gear, Sword Collectors, or cosplayers. The sword has a great weight to it, especially for a replica/cosplay blade. The weight is heavier in comparison to several of my other replica/cosplay swords, but is only slightly so in comparison to a few of my actual Katanas, which complements the realism. I do recommend, however, tightening the various screws along the hilt as some of the grip was somewhat loose and wiggled around a bit. The sharpness of the blade is decent at best, and doesn't compare to the sharpened edge of a true Katana, but considering this is only a replica made for show or cosplay rather than any sort of actual use, the blade will give someone a nasty cut if one were to run their hand along the blade. Not to mention the tip is sharp as well. I would not recommend this as a gift to anyone under the age of 12, this sword is certainly not a toy in any regard. As suspected, it has a "Handcrafted in China" notice, stamped on the blade, but for what i paid, i wasn't expecting anything of superior quality. Furthermore, the blade is as the description said as being Full-tang which gives an overall sturdy feel and upon a closer look to the blade I observed no noticeable defects in the construction, but it does feel like the quality would allow for easy unintentional bending if used incorrectly. The sheath is abysmal and is the only reason i have made this review 4-star. It's made from a roughly stitched together flimsy faux leather material and doesn't add much in functionality for being wearable. The sheathe also features "Two nylon straps to go around your waist line." which i fail to comprehend how to even use or how it would add to making the sword easier to carry, not to mention how cheap the straps feel. Moving back to the sheathe: I feel it would easily fall apart over a short period of heavy use and while it suits its purpose for holding the sword I would not recommend wearing the sheathe over long periods of time. To Finish: Overall the sword is certainly a cool and sturdy addition to anyone's collection and accurately resembles Raiden's HF Blade from Metal Gear Rising: Revengence. I highly recommend investing in this product and aside from the sheathe I am positive that with proper care it will remain a cool showpiece in my collection!

Aside from certifying me as a "mall ninja". I use this sword primarily for decorative purposes. I don't know how much faith I'd put into the actual strength of the blade itself but it's also rather unimportant in my opinion. If I wanted to have a sword that functioned I'd have one commissioned, this one was fairly cheap and also looks really darn good on my wall, and it makes me feel like a cybernetic ninja when I swing it around.

It looks just like the picture! A little heavy but not bad (I actually expected heavier!) great detail especially with the choice of bolts and cuts! Blade is not too sharp but I don't think is ok to bring to conventions unless blunted more or kept in a sheath. The sheath it came with was ok quality but let's face it you're not buying this for the sheath (lol) Delivery was very prompt, packaging was good, kept the item in safe condition! Minor detail like the grid-like pattern on inner handle is missing but is not hard to make and insert if you really want that 110% accuracy, I wish the edges on the blade were more hard but it is ok! I really love this sword!

Heavy?You bet.What’s to complain? This sword is so heavy and so inexpensive,you’d likely yield a profit selling it for scrap.TOO heavy to take into battle? I wasn’t planning on moving to Brazil,where everyone seems to carry a machete as a part of their personal wardrobe,especially in prison;without his machete and cell phone,no self respecting,self preserving inmate would leave his cell.Crappy scabbard?Faux leather fooled me, and,anyhow, I knew from the product description it would be,and at this price,what the hell do you expect?Screws need tightening?Tighten ‘em.What are they doing on the blade anyhow?I’ve never heard of the “anime”. I don’t even know what an “anime” is (I”m old). This sword is an unbelievable buy at twice the price (only my opinion but you’v got to expect that in a review),even if you’re not an”anime” fan.Go ahead;check out the alternatives. I promise you won’t find a full tang,carbon steel,twenty seven inch bladed ANYthing at this price.I’d take that to Vegas.

Where to begin with this sword, it's beautifully crafted, it has a good weight to it. It's everything you could ever want in a sword.
