PERFECT. helpful, quick, small.
PERFECT. Everyone else on the trip was jealous of this set of maps. While they had to open up giant folding maps; I just had to flip through a small book which was packed with accurate detailed information. The book consists of pages depicting each arrondissement (like a zone, or county) of Paris. There is also a small full map showing where each arrondissement lies within Paris as well (so you can understand the "big picture"). THE METRO MAP WAS WONDERFUL: it was my favorite of the metro maps I purchased. There is even a helpful RER map which was useful (not a saving grace though the RER is not always the most easily understood system). And, if i remember correctly, a bus map as well. The individual metro stops are also indicated within the arrondissement maps themselves (if I remember correctly this means every outlet on its exact block). There is even a STREET INDEX! So, if you know the name of the street you are on (or an address you are looking for) you can look it up in the back of the book to see not only which arrondissements the road runs through, but even where it runs through them. The booklet even has a few random helpful resources: i.e. there is a large list of street markets and when they are open. Icons indicate hospital locations, churches of different denominations, buildings of interest and more. "Passages" were even called out in green dashed lines within their blocks. The only downfall I could see would be the text size. If you have difficulty reading smaller fonts this set of maps would perhaps be more difficult to use when looking at smaller road names.

Paris, Here I Come!
This is proving invaluable for my trip to Paris next year. Marking and using stickers to plan days in Paris, to get the most out of each area. The only drawback is that, as stated by others, some of the printing is very small. I'll just take a magnifier with me--problem solved!

Invaluable guide/map
When I received this book in the mail I didn't think it would be that useful (the maps seemed small and confusing when I viwed them at home) but I brought it along to Paris nontheless. It proved to be invaulable. I LOVE this guide. It has every street that I was searching for, even the shortest, little back-alley side streets. You cannot possibly get lost in Paris with this in hand, but most certainly can without it. It saved us a lot of time and was very helpful in figuring out in which direction to proceed (to get to a specific street) when emerging from the metro. It also has a bus map, metro map, schedule of the paris farmers' markets, etc. The maps themselves have great detail such as cemeteries, churches, metro stops, even street numbers. You'll need no other maps if you take this along. Highly recommended! I was surprised and delighted to discover just how very useful this was.

Terrific map for walking / public transport in Paris
I bought a used one online in advance of my first trip to Paris. The whole book is in French, but the maps are so excellent that we were able to walk and train around regardless of the lack of information printed in English. The maps are exact to Paris neighborhoods.

Too hard to read; not as good as "The Paris Mapguide"
I bought this mapbook based on the reviews, but overall I prefer "The Paris Mapguide" for several reasons. The main one is that the scale/font is too small on "Paris par Arrondisement" -- I'm only 40 years old but find it extremely hard to read, whereas "The Paris Mapguide" is more detailed with the locations of hotels & main sights, plus everything looks about 3x larger. Other pros of "The Paris Mapguide" are that it has more info on tourist attractions, plus it's in English! However "Paris par Arrondissement" has some good features as well. It's much newer / more updated, and the "practical information" section on the back with the locations / opening days & times of the markets, taxi phone numbers, and bus routes is really great. It's definitely aimed more for the Parisien local, whereas "The Paris Mapguide" is for the Parisien visitor from abroad. What do I recommend? Buy "The Paris Mapguide" to help with your planning before you get to Paris, but if you'll be there for more than a few days, buy "Paris par Arrondisement" when you arrive in Paris for the practical matters (it's also only 5.90 euros there so you can save a couple bucks that way if you want both).

Mapguide was hard to read and use
I bought two map books for my recent trip to Paris. I ended up giving this one to my daughter who has better eyesight than I do and was better able to read the smaller print in this book. This book was also not as easy to use as the other one I bought, not as easy to flip from page to page to connect one map to the other. I was much more impressed with The Paris Mapguide by Michael Middleditch, which had bigger print, making it much easier to read, and the whole layout was better and more intuitive to use.

Detail matters
Especially if you can read French (although that's not 100% necessary & honestly this is good practice), the high level of detail as well as transit & market day details & the alphabetized street index make this the gold standard for anyone venturing beyond the central tourist areas of the city. You might need a small "loupe" (magnifying glass), get one at the dollar store. Not a bad item to travel with anyway.

Very effective guide for getting around Paris.
Excellent for helping me find my way around the metro system - the WHAT, and walking about. Once you have determined the places you want to visit in Paris--then you can use this book to get you around. For understanding the HOW of using the Metro system, I recommend Rick Steve's book on Paris.
