Perfect dog harness. First one that has ever successfully worked for my lab.
This is a wonderful harness. I have a three year old lab and she has chewed or managed to get out of countless harnesses in the past. My lab is scared of everything so having something that she can't get out of is a must. It needs to be secure. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this is at least the 8th harness she has had. If you name a really good brand of harness I've probably tried it on her and she's either chewed it to pieces or slipped out of it. This is not my first dog so I'm well aware of how they should fit properly. I've never had a problem in the past with any other dog so the problems are not user related. This harness went on easier than most and was simple to adjust. My dog didn't even try to bite it which is a first and it fit really nice. I decided to try a ride out in the car and hooked her up to the seatbelt with the included clip. The last time I tried this she had chewed herself free before we got to the first stop sign. Not only did she not chew anything she sat nicely all the way to the library which is about a ten minute trip. I can't reiterate enough how she has never made it this far before unless she was in a kennel in the back of the car. I was a little bit worried about leaving her in the car alone for a few minutes which normally makes her very anxious. To make it worse the librarian was busy and I was gone longer than I had hoped (about ten minutes). I came back out to the car expecting the worse but she has sitting peacefully and hadn't touched the harness and was still in it. This is the first one she hasn't had an issue wearing. I still haven't taken her out for a walk yet with it on because I'm so worried about her escaping and I'm still waiting for her new tags to come. I think she would do fine but I'm just paranoid. I think I'll try it next at a pet store in case she would get free. This really is a nicely made harness and my husband even commented on how nice it seemed and how easy it was to get it on her. I mentioned this one to my sister and she also purchased one and seems to really like hers.

Well made, sturdy and has made walking a pleasure again.
Our big rescued Plott Hound, Traveler, came with some baggage....including the ugly habit of bolting off after turtles and squirrels. On a traditional martingale collar & leash he was dragging both of us skidding down the driveway. That prey drive frenzy meant any training progress we might have made in the house or back yard was just forgotten. I started with a cheap generic harness first and saw an immediate positive impact on his behavior and focus in general on walks. After a month, it was time to upgrade to a permanent harness. I have used Kurgo products in the past with excellent results - the quality is outstanding and they stand behind their brand. The tru-fit was my final choice for Traveler because it can be fitted for him exactly - the straps at the neck and at the back are adjustable. He really likes that it just slips over his head and I attach it on his back - no lifting up his legs in Dog Yoga. The material is tough and strong, but not rough & the padded chest is definitely comfortable because Traveler doesn't notice it. I use the clip on the back for walks and he is not pulling me anymore - not even when the squirrels are RIGHT THERE! He wants to of course, but he stops as soon as the harness exerts any pressure. Yesterday, I noticed that if I give the wait command before there's any tension on the leash/harness, Traveler just stops on his own. Sizing.... Traveler has a 26 1/2" girth so we're using the large and it's exactly right.

Great quality, might need a little bit more overlap in sizes
My dog has a 15.5 inch neck and a 23 inch chest which puts his neck in the small size and his chest in the medium size. I selected the medium thinking that that would be ok but it made the front leash attachment essentially unusable as it would just pull around to his shoulder when he pulled. The quality is really nice. I love that it had a car attachment (even if not crash test rated). Though he didn't tolerate being attached in the car very well that is not the fault of the manufacture. Also the blue color is not my favorite type of blue. It is not teal but it is apporaching teal. It is hard to represent color accurately via a screen because the image color needs to be encoded correctly to represent reality AND the person's monitor also needs to be set up correctly. In some photos the blue color looked a bit deeper -- leaning towards a "royal blue" where, while blue, these leans more towards a light blue or teal color. Again, not for me or my dog (I'd buy the black one if buying again), but some people will like the blue. tl;dr -- This is a great quality harness with excellent value for money. If you want to use the front leash attachment, you need a pretty tight fit around your dog so be aware of that. Maybe avoid this harness if your dog does not fall within the size ranges for both chest and neck -- even if close.

worthy harness, tru-fittedness could improve
I now own two of these: one for a ~50 lb dog, one for a ~110 lb dog. both are effective, go on easily, and are well made. tugging and other forms of undesirable behavior have certainly gone down since using them. For the larger dog, this is a replacement for a more padded harness which was probably better made yet, but did not go on or (particularly) off easily. Nonetheless, there are some changes the manufacturer could make to improve the harness: 1. offer it in a color other than black. when I'm looking for the right harness in the morning, it's hard to distinguish black from black, or to read L vs. XL with my bleary eyes. end of the world? hardly. but it would be a nice enhancement. 2. while the harness adjusts in more dimensions than most other harnesses I've tried, it's still not completely responsive to different dog architectures. for example, the larger dog is a St Bernard, with a wide head and ears. the correct setting of the front straps to go comfortably over her head does not match the correct setting to stay tight against her chest. adjusting the chest straps while it's on her is tough. a suggested improvement would be a simpler and faster way to tighten and loosen the front for getting it on her and then tightening it up for walking. the snap along the chest protector does make that tightening better, but the binary choice of shorter/longer is insufficient. perhaps some type of easier slider on the front straps, akin to the tightening mechanism on a backpack, would be good. 3. the same for the smaller dog, who is a Cattle Dog, and therefore somewhat differently shaped from a Saint. there's essentially no issue getting the harness over her head, but finding a setting where the chest plate clings tightly enough is tough. it can't get any shorter than it is. 4. finally, the carabiner at the end of the car harness is a great idea. of the four different car brands where I've tried to use it as recommended, however, none has a seatbelt buckle narrow enough to fit. using the carabiner as a carabiner is hard on arthritic hands. as a way of anchoring the dog comfortably, the solution is fine. if the kit came with a seat-belt lock it would save the bother of having to buy one after you discover there's no real anchor -- unless, of course, you have recently stopped using kids' car seats and have extras on hand.

Good product til it breaks
Very effective harness. Works well and is comfortable for the dog. That said, their "Lifetime Warranty" is a joke. Doesn't apply to anything they don't believe is a manufacturers defect. I've had two of these and both have had the securing strap cut through the lower part of the harness. The second time I caught it early and managed to sew it back together. Then a clip on the strap broke. Kurgo will not sell you a separate replacement strap let alone honor any kind of "Lifetime Warranty". You will be forced to replace the harness, perhaps with a different brand this time.

Versatile, well constructed harness. Will be looking for other Kurgo products in the future.
My only requirement was a harness that didn't require the dog to step into it. This harness not only fulfilled that requirement, but I'm very pleased with how versatile it actually is. The piece that goes from the neck to the back strap is actually two straps. It’s perfect for the dog park: when she misbehaves (she is getting better!) those straps create an easy-to-grab handle. The seatbelt tether that comes with it is a real bonus. She was clearly not used to riding in cars and doesn’t do well in the backseat, but with the tether I can easily secure her safely in the front seat next to me. The long tether handle slides over both straps of the seat belt and you fasten the belt as you normally would. The D-ring on the tether clips nicely to the back of the harness. Unlike a lot of other dog seatbelt systems I’ve seen, the Kurgo does not require a different product once out of the car. Just unclip the tether and clip on the leash and you are ready to go. Unless I have a human passenger, I can just keep the tether on the closed seatbelt all the time. My dog is deep-chested and at first I was concerned that the back strap that fits over the largest part of her chest would be problematic because it does slip forward. Actually, I’m kind of glad because then I know it’s not too tight and restraining for her. And it doesn’t slip so far forward that it is a problem. This harness doesn’t seem to restrict or restrain her movements in any way; she regularly turns on the afterburners at the dog park. The construction seems to be of very good quality and quite durable, I expect this product to be very long lasting. I’m more than pleased with the purchase and price point. I would have expected to have had to pay more for such a well-constructed and versatile item. I will definitely be looking at other Kurgo products first for future purchases.

Chew resistant. Comfortable.
Mini Schnauzer, 13lbs. Fits perfect. Looks great, rugged and durable. Fur baby loves walkies and puts nose into harness when it’s time. When she is pulling or on two legs, I move leash to chest ring ti control…so nice to have both ring locations.

Weak front attachment and limited adjustability
I purchased this harness for my dog at the end of December 2017 and just a couple months later it appears to be on the verge of failure. I believe the design of the front d-ring attachment has significant flaws. The harness uses a thin stamped d-ring with a narrow slot, through which a nylon band is threaded and stitched to the front of the harness. The thin square edged d-ring slides back and forth across the nylon band creating significant friction and premature wear. Once a small notch developed in the nylon, the d-ring slotted into it and wore through it very rapidly. A normal round d-ring and a fixed (not sliding) attachment point would have probably prevented this. The rear attachment looks likely to be much sturdier, though the squared d-ring seems like a mistake there as well. In addition to the premature wear, the harness has limited adjustability and was never a great fit on my somewhat oddly shaped dog. He has a very large head and a shallow/short chest. When the front opening was adjusted to be large enough for his head, it was too large to get a good fit on his chest and would always leave a gap. The two position snap adjustment for the chest piece length was too limited, and would come undone on every walk. Additionally, all the strap adjusters tended to slip out of place within a week or so, requiring re-adjustment. My dog generally walks with a loose lead, so most tension on the straps and attachment were from occasional bouts of excited pulling and leaping when seeing other dogs. My dog's prior front clip harness (a Sense-ation) lasted him 3 1/2 years before one of the plastic buckles broke (and it had been used by another dog for a few years prior to that), and rarely needed re-adjustment. I cannot recommend this harness at all to anyone who is looking for a durable front buckle harness or whose dog may need a somewhat custom fit. I've attached a photo to show the damage to the front attachment after just a couple months of normal use.
