Universal 12.7mm SATA to SATA 2nd SSD HDD Hard Drive Caddy Case Adapter Tray Enclosure for Laptop CD/DVD-ROM Optical Bay

I really like that this has a built-in screwdriver and screws for it so all you have to do is pop in the drive, screw it in, then put the screwdriver back in the "holder" so it's always there if you need it. Then I just snapped on the front plate (although I wish it said HDD or something instead of DVD) but I like that the activity light on it is functional as well. This even had the screw holes on the back to take the Dell DVD drive plastic holder tab that keeps the drive held in, so it snaps in just like the old optical drive did. Only thing to look out for is with the screws not held in well when shipped, they could be loose instead of partially in the drive caddy already, so make sure you don't accidently drop them or lose them when you open the package just in case one is loose.

Very pleasantly surprised by this as it has a couple of features that I have not seen before on these types of adapters. It has: - LED drive activity indicator - love it - Built in tool holder - The screwdriver clips into the drive bay so it won't get lost! Great idea. - Very easy 2 screw hold down of 2.5" drive Beyond that it fits perfectly into DVD drive bay on Dell R710 server and holds the 2.5" drive nice and snug. The only possible fault is that the face-plate is too convincing as a fake DVD drive. It could just be blank without the dummy eject button or fake logos. Also be careful opening package as the specialty screws used to hold 2.5" HDD may be loose. If you lose it; it will be a pain to find replacement.

I own the HP EliteBook 8770W and use it as my main computer and I absolutely love it, it's the best laptop of all time and I want to keep using it for as long as possible. Recently I decided that I wanted to cram some more storage into this laptop to hold all my large games and large video files and for any other large files in the future. I picked up two Seagate 4TB external hard drives, advertised as PS4 expansion drives. I stripped away the plastic shells and the little proprietary adapter so the normal 2.5 SATA connection would be come exposed. I tried to fit both of them into the two 2.5 SATA slots that the laptop features, however only one of the slots was deep enough to hold a thicker 15MM hard drive. I was disappointed but still determined. This is where the DVD replacement caddy comes in. I was able to add the other Seagate 15MM 4TB hard drive to the laptop using this adapter caddy, however it wasn't just plug and play. I couldn't slip the adapter into the laptop with the 15MM hard drive. The hard drive itself is thicker than the adapter. I had to disassemble the laptop then I slipped the empty caddy adapter while the laptop was still opened. From there I dropped the new 4TB extra thick hard drive down into the caddy while the caddy was still mounted inside the laptop from above. I couldn't access the side screws on the adapter because all of the computer parts were blocking the sides. So to prevent the hard drive from disconnecting from the caddy adapter, I just filled that little empty space with 3M sticky rubber bumpers. From there I assembled the laptop back together like normal and now my laptop has over 9TB of usable space consisting of two 4TB 15MM Seagate hard drives and my 2TB SSD in one of the normal SATA slots. So yeah this DVD caddy adapter is amazing. It made my dream come true of having an absurd amount of space in my favorite laptop. I will certainly buy another one later to upgrade my older potato laptop. See pictures if reading all this didn't make sense or seemed too good to be true.

Easy to put together (really, not much to do) and fits well to make the otherwise almost never used CD/DVD ROM space useful again. If you have a laptop you can do a backup in place or just to add extra storage. If you have a pc this can be used to make it a simple NAS (for boot or data) but with less abundance. Actually order it to make a tiny pc into a spare NAS

This is great for replacing antiquated cd/DVD drives. Its easy to install if you've ever replaced a cd drive before (even if you haven't too). The quality of material is decent, it is made mostly of metal. The included screwdriver is part of what holds the hard drive in place, handy so you don't have to go looking for it when you want to swap out the hard drive.

Fit 17" Dell Insirpon 7110 perfectly!! . There was space a gap using the included face plate but I just took off the OEM face plate from the DVD drive and it snapped on the adapter with no problem and fits drive bay flush. Like others have said it does have a drive activity indicator light which is a nice extra.

The product is functional. Its 12.7mm size, fits well and connector just slides through. HDD running at full speed. Quality is ok for the price. Packaging was worst, they just wrapped the original packaging and sent it (no box or cover...!!) When I received, I thought it could have been damaged, but thankfully it was fine. Remember that no extra screws provided for fitting your hdd to this case. Also, no dummy front cover included, you have to use your cd drive front cover.

I thought i would have to double sided tape the drive but it has hdd/ssd mounting screws. Works on my old fujitsu

3rd class product. Not fitted properly in laptop waste of money buy some good product from reliable company. These are the worst product i purchased from Amazon 👎
