I used this Duru Baldo Rice in two different ways: as a side dish and in rice pudding. I used my instant pot in both cases. As a side dish, we followed the directions on the bag. We rinsed the rice before sautéing it in olive oil. Then we used our instant pot to cook it. Making it that way added too much crunch for me. I'm hoping it will be softer if I try it again without the sautéing at first. My husband seemed to like it that way. So it comes down to personal preference. I used a recipe that normally calls for arborio rice and that I normally use Calrose rice for for the rice pudding.I was excited because it looked good, but when I tried it, I found the rice to have a watery taste and a texture that I didn't like. It's difficult to describe, but perhaps grainy comes close. The rice isn't smooth. I'm wondering if it was overcooked, which shouldn't be an issue normally with rice pudding. To get this rice just right, I'll probably have to experiment with cooking methods and time. I couldn't find much guidance online.

This is the first time that I've ever tried baldo rice. Generally speaking, I do tend to very much like most rice and grain products, with some being more preferable than others. For me, this is an excellent choice when I'm looking for something that works great with a white rice. I did find that it took me a little bit longer to cook, but did not create any trouble with my meal planning. All worked out fine. Once ready, I was highly impressed with both the bite and the flavor. To me, it looks like a jasmine or basmati rice, but feels in the mouth similar to an arborio rice. Yet, it does have its own qualities. Love how it feels in the mouth. Creamy, yet not too chewy. Breaks down well without getting mushy. An ever so slightly sweet taste, but not overpowering. It's also rather filling. Very complementary to most meats and vegetables. Can be used with most dishes that you would use denser white rices for. Probably better with European style dishes though than Asian ones. Glad that I've had the chance to try this because it's now something that I will continue to eat in the future.

I would like to refund or new package! I love the item but delivery was damaged!

I forgot to cook this a special way so I just cooked it the normal way - I'll let it come to a boil in a 2:1 ratio of water to rice. I let it cook 20 minutes, but it needed a few more minutes so and 4-5 more minutes it was perfect. I used it for gumbo both times that I cooked it and molded it into a small glass bowl. It takes a mold well, though it is not what I would call a sticky rice. It was good though shorter grained then we normally like.

Very tasty does not stick togethet

I’d never used this type of rice before and was curious. It is far less sticky than Arborio or reg short grain or Calrose or Sushi rice. I followed the instructions and love that it has far less starch. Worked beautifully. I made a Tomato pilau w just a can of tomato’s,some chicken stock and herbs and it was wonderful because the grain does not break up like the other types of rices I mentioned. I will def buy this type again as it also doesn’t feel as heavy because of the ‘less starch’ factor.
