Loved the wool comforter on my old Queen bed so much that is turning into a guest bed that when I upgraded to a King size I had to get a wool comforter to fit. History: I got tired of the down comforters' contents always shifting and I'd end up with down all sitting on the sides and nothing in the middle. I've regularly had to replace my down comforters about every 5 years. The wool comforter looks brand new and the stuffing doesn't shift all over. I did always, always buy the high end down comforters with all the compartments/baffles to supposedly contain the down -- but never worked long term. For my old queen bed I decided to try a wool comforter and ordered from this brand and IT'S FANTASTIC! I've had it several years and washes up like a dream and the filling is always distributed evenly throughout the comforter. I was surprised I didn't find the wool comforter hot during the summer, as it adjusts to your temperature needs -- I have no idea how, but except on the hottest nights when all you want is a sheet. Summer nights here can be 80-90F degrees at night periodically through the summer. The wool comforter also acts like one of the highly praised weighted blankets that everyone talks about these days and adds just a little weight to help you sleep better. I've rambled a bit here, but bottom line I will never go back to down comforters unless forced to if they stop making the wool comforters, which would make me sad. Buy it -- you won't regret it. Note -- I did wash it before putting it in a duvet cover and onto my bed. I have wool balls in the dryer and they work great with it. Rating: I put 3 stars for "light weight", as it's not, but really this isn't a good thing to judge it on as it does have weight and that is a GOOD thing.

I looked into wool comforters because I had read somewhere that they do an excellent job of regulating your bodies' temperature. Since getting a new bed this year I had spent all summer going to sleep in a freezing cold bed and waking up in a puddle of my own sweat. I had to resort to just using a single, very thin blanket to avoid the latter, which meant I shivered the whole not through (and still, on occasion woke up drenched). Was a little nervous about the wool though, having read it smelled bad, and not quite being able to shake the notions of wool as a very hot, scratchy material. Very pleased to report that everything is working out very well so far. Been sleeping with the comforter for a little over a week now and am MUCH warmer at nights and MUCH cooler in the morning. I haven't woke up drenched yet. The comforter is very cozy and has no smell. It's just as nice as the down comforter I replaced. It has a good weight to it, and looks pretty nice. I wish it had been available in other colors though, as the white doesn't really match my room's décor. (I'm a bit afraid getting a duvet for it might hurt it's ability to wick away moisture).

i will admit i have yet to try this product, its not cold enough. i'm replacing a down comforter i got, but its leaking feathers and its a pain to clean. my goal was to find a cotton outside, wool inside blanket that can be machined washed and was affordable. some of the prices you see on duvet's will make your hair stand on end. this blanket came in a cheap plastic bag that i can't even re-use. which is a bit annoying because i got a cheap vellux from china that came in a reusable bag. i find that the blanket itself is not evenly distributed. the blanket is no more than an inch thick. (if you had a feather version in the past and are used to puffiness, this is not puffy). but each square, which is stitched btw, the baffle, does not have an even amount of wool. some on the edge is only a 1/4" thick, others are more than an inch. some squares vary from corner to corner. i don't know what that means down the line, and how warm it will be. i'm hoping it will be as warm as my old one. smell. there was a smell in this, probably the plastic it was wrapped in. it filled the entire washer (ordered the king), when wet - it had a live stock smell. not strong, but it was there. and it took forever to dry. ran it twice, still wasn't dry. it had to sit out in the air for a while to get it good and dry. wish this came in a color of some kind, don't plan on using a cover. it is a heavy blanket rolled up though. hoping it will translate to warmth. 1-20-17 - update - It's very very warm. too warm actually. while the wool wasn't even it does fluff a little. but despite it being a few inches thick, i usually have to get it off of me some time in the night. or i totally overheat. great for very cold nights... however, i find that if your very cold it takes a little while to "warm up". its also not cozy at first. it takes a while for the cotton to sort of break down and get fuzzier... and that's important because the fabric is rather stiff, and it sounds like (still sounds like), i'm sleeping in a paper bag. its very crunchy. its more quiet now that i used it for a few months.

Its a nice wool comforter - a good weight for California in the winter and probably summer. The sateen cover on the quilt is a quality soft 100% cotton material made in China. Please note that it is not represented as "organic", neither the wool nor the cotton cover. People might assume the materials are organic since the seller is named "OrganicTextiles." I also noticed there was a slight chemical smell coming from the comforter which dissipated quickly with a sunshine treatment. I am unclear on the source of the smell. The blanket is very comfortable and I think it will keep its loft (warmth) since it was treated to be machine washable. Our last untreated wool comforter, from a different maker, seemed to lose its warmth over time and my theory is that the fibers broke down over time. Not sure why. In short, its not the cheapest comforter out there but well done and I am hoping that over time it will prove to be a good value.
