Microshift - does it have software in it? lol
The Microshift Rear Derailleur Shifter came today, part # RD-M26L (long cage version). I previously got the RD-M26S (short cage version) for use on my 8-speed Genesys Villotti mountain bike, but that wasn't the right one, so as soon as I noticed, I returned and replaced so it wouldn't be damaged. Good value for the price (but of course, that may vary). Not sure if it fits other bikes, but I presume so. My derailleur has been having shift issues, the cage was bent inwards, AND the bolt attaching it to the bike was starting to get worn by my many removals and reinstalls, not to mention thread locker applications. (Note, I used permanent red threadlocker for the new threads in the drop out, and blue tool-removal threadsaver for he actual Drop Out bolt.) So, it was logical to order a replacement. However, before it came, I was able to get the old one working, and thus did not install this new one. (Well, not tested in actual riding). But if I could give Google search advice text, to other consumers for their potential issues, it would be to read: 1. bicycle Rear Derailleur bolt 2. bicycle Rear Derailleur adjustment 3. bicycle Rear Derailleur threads stripped 4. bicycle Rear Derailleur Frame Saver / Drop Out Saver 5. bicycle Rear Derailleur thread locker 6. lubricate bicycle rear derailleur pivot? Fine adjustment of the cable is right where the cable goes into the derailleur. - I was initially confused about this as turning my old one didn't immediately change the adjustment screw's outwards appearance - but a closer look reveals it was adjusting. I suggest you look at this before installing the cable, if you must.

Plastic Junk, Broke after a few short rides
This rear derailleur came with my bike and it was definitely the weakest point of the bike. I have no idea why they would spend $13 on a part for a $3,000 bike when a all metal one can be had for $25. Also why would any company even bother making this part using plastic is beyond me.
