Johnstone's One Coat Paint

This paint is brilliant. It covers so well. It is thick and creamy. Lovely colour. Very good paint at this price. Highly recommend

Really nice paint goes on smooth I will buy again

Great paint however it certainly does not do a true “One Coat” thats for sure! Definitely thicker than most and a lot better than Johnstones Trade Vinyl Matt that ive used before, 2 coats is certainly bang on with this “One Coat” paint, low smell due to the low VOC count which is great for my wife who suffers from Migraines. 4* overall as i wasn't expecting it to be a “One Coat” but i really was hoping for it, shouldn't put it on the tin really if it cant do it. I would most likely continue using this as my white from now on as coverage is good generally speaking.

I always use Johnstone's one coat to paint in my house. All of the rooms are brilliant white and now I've just done the bathroom. Half a tin did my bathroom. Lovely thick consistency, dries extremely quickly and being water based has no smell which is excellent as strong smells trigger my migraines... Washes off skin, brushes etc with just soap and water. Was delighted to find it on offer at £12 as I usually find it on the high street for £16-£18.. I note the price has gone up now but an amazing deal when on offer. Item was packaged securely, no leaks or damage. No complaints at all

Lovely shade of paint. Used in bathroom and really nice, thick consistency to work with. One tin was enough for my small room. This was a good price when purchased at £12 but when I returned to purchase some more for my kitchen, the price had increased considerably which was disappointing! Nevertheless, it's a great paint to work with and the Antique cream is a lovely shade. Will definitely buy again when it's on offer!

My initial review of this paint was a really bad one and you can see from the attached photograph of the problems that I had. This is a one coat paint but it behaves a little differently from other emulsion paints. You will notice that it is quite thick and it is approaching the consistency of a gloss paint. When I first applied this, I applied it as if I was using a normal emulsion,in other words I applied it quite thinly as you would with an emotion knowing that you’re going to apply a second coat. The result was a very patchy finish. The secret is to slow down and apply it thickly. When painting coving imagine that you are painting gloss and apply it in that manner and you will end up with a very smooth and very clean finish. So you can use this as a one coat paint but just don’t spread it too thinly, it works by being applied in a generous amount and if you do that then you’ll get a good result.
