500GB 500G HDD Internal Hard Drive for Xbox360 E xbox360 Slim Console.

Works great. I was a little worried at first but I can play every game down loaded on it and I still have over 300gbs of storage left. I couldn’t be happier with how it performs.

I bought this drive to upgrade an Xbox 360 that didn’t originally come with a hard drives. Once locating and removing the hidden panel, installation was literally plug and play. I tried playing an original Xbox game and found that the compatibility feature was not working. I downloaded the FATXplorer software followed the online instructions for copying the emulator files to the “backwards compatibility” partition also known as partition 2 and reinstalled the drive (has to be connected to a PC to use FATXplorer. Now my 360 can play original Xbox games AND has 460GB of space and I didn’t have to buy a used MS drive. This drive already comes with the FatX compatibility partition so you don’t have to repartition it to install the emulator software. Totally worth the money!

I bought this about a week ago because the 320 drive on my R2D2 360 failed. Microsoft's support site informed me that my system was over a year and a half out of warranty by the time that happened, so my repair options were: a 250 drive for $100, or a 320 drive for $130... and that's on a two year old system. So, I turned to Amazon for my troubles, and found this wonderful thing. A slim 500 drive for half of what Microsoft wants for a 250. I'm not sure how to review this item, but I guess I'll do my best. First of all, this is a 500 GB drive. The drive shows up with about 465 available. No, you're not being shortchanged, that's the way hard drives work. The thing looks like an OEM hard drive, it feels sturdy, it seems to read/write items at a pretty normal speed, and it doesn't require any additional setup; just plug and play. This hard drive saved my dear, sweet 360 from a one-way trip to those thieving bastards at Gamestop. I'm thrilled with this purchase. The value is tremendous. As others have noted, this hard drive won't allow you to play classic Xbox games. To my knowledge, this is something that Microsoft does to discourage the use of third-party devices (which makes sense, considering how much they charge for their own devices). If this is a dealbreaker, then you might consider procuring yourself a first-party hard drive for those games exclusively and use this only for 360 games. That being said, if you're in the market for more storage on your 360, you can't go wrong with this thing. Customer service seems available to help if anything goes wrong with this drive, so I honestly feel like I'm in good hands.

Instead of a full review I'll just answer some basic questions people might have about this item: ►No, it's not an official hard drive from Microsoft. ►Yes, it still works just fine for Xbox 360 games. ►Yes, it fits in the Xbox 360 Slim without any problems. ►No, it does not allow you to play backwards-compatible original Xbox games as shipped. It required me to use software to install Partition 2, after which it worked fine for backwards compatibility. The way to do this is outlined in other reviews, and you can learn more by checking online videos and doing a web search for instructions. If you never plan to play old Xbox games, then you don't need to do this. It plays all regular Xbox 360 games right out of the box. ►Yes, it ships in a nice (knock-off) retail box, but it's not the original Xbox 360 hard drive retail packaging. ►No, I noticed no difference in speed from my OEM Xbox 360 hard drive (250GB) as compared to this one. ►Yes, it's really great to have twice as much space as I had before for all those Games With Gold I'm downloading. ►No, it doesn't come with any kind of transfer cable. I had to back up all my game saves to a USB flash drive (or the cloud) and then re-download all my games and apps before transferring everything back from the USB flash drive (or cloud). It was a long process, but worth it in my opinion. If you opt to go this way, and you have a lot of games to download, I suggest you check with your Internet provider to see if they have bandwidth caps. Mine doesn't, so it was no big deal. Others (coughcomcastcough) will freak out if you do 200 GB of game and app downloads over the course of a couple days, and the terms of service for these LOVELY companies say they can terminate your service if you go over your bandwidth cap, so BE AWARE before going on a game-downloading marathon if you're on one of those service providers. FINAL SCORE: Four Stars. Excellent, but hindered by the fact that Docooler is NOT installing Partition 2 on these hard drives, which will cause problems for anyone trying to play games for the Original Xbox (like Halo 1, Jade Empire, etc.), whether on disc or purchased from Xbox Live Marketplace. If they're going to mass-produce these things and sell them, they should take the extra step to make sure they're truly identical to the real McCoy. While they have 90% of the functionality of the real thing, they still fall short and FAIL TO MENTION THIS SHORTCOMING in their descriptions... So they lose a star. Personally, being a technically-minded person, I'm happy I got mine. For the average non-techy person these drives might save some money and be worth it if they don't plan to use the Xbox 360's backwards compatibility feature. Use your best judgment and realize that there is a small trade-off for the significant savings. That said, I hope companies like this keep selling these drives, because it gives hope that Microsoft will be forced to continue to lower their prices on their unreasonably-expensive, unnecessarily proprietary hard drives.

Works fine. No problems. Paid like, 30 bucks for this instead of microsofts, 70 dollar discount. I got this for my birthday, I had been looking at the one they are selling at Walmart, my parents(I just turned 18 a couple months ago) always complain when I want something $150+. I don't have any problem with that its just paying $100 for something takes out $$$ for my birthday fund. I don't have a job, I'm currently going soon into the military so I wanted something that wouldn't be costly and works for what I want that wouldn't big in case of needing to move my belongings. This is literally the best thing so far on Amazon that I have even gotten(Would say bought but I didn't buy it or anything i've gotten. Love my parents for being so good to me). The reviews saying DONT BUY or whatever, ignore. Of course look for the ones that say didn't arrive or its broken or something. My hard drive showed up before it was supposed to and it has never failed me. To date how I feel is GREAT PRODUCT WOULD BUY AGAIN IF I NEEDED TOO.
