This worked better than I hoped. I used it to track down two ticking lifters on a 400 SBC. Listening to each one with the probe, I could easily hear the difference. I wear hearing aides, and the headset gave me no problems at all.

This electronic stethoscope is much more sensitive than the conventional manual stethoscope I used before to look for sprinkler valve leaks. Note that it is a contact microphone only. That means that the probe end needs to be in contact with a hard surface on the valve, pipe, or automotive part being investigated. It is purposely insensitive to air transmitted noise to cut background noise. You should turn the volume down while you are making contact to keep from having a loud pop in the earphones. There are two volume controls: One on the earphone cord and one on the unit. Make sure that neither is turned off. I dropped 1 star for two reasons: First, there was no 9V battery supplied, as the product description and package content indicated. Second because the LED does NOT indicate the signal strength as the product description claims. It appears to be nothing but a very bright on/off indicator. Despite these minor discrepencies, it is a very useful product and comes in a well made protective carrying case. I used the stethoscope to figure out which of two valves next to each other had a leak. Even connected to the same supply pipe and only inches apart, it was easy to hear which one had the leak.

the listening device is good. 2 sizes for probes. headphones suck. I don't use them. I use a pair of noise canceling headphones and just plug into those. help isolate the noise more. I'd say they are more helpful I'm picking out certain noises over standard stethoscopes.

It works pretty well for the cost. Other than that, not much else to say other than it beats using a screw driver to listen.

As an electrical maintenance technician, I have Dozens of motors to do preventive maintenance on. I must listen to each motor in three different places to assess bearings. This item does not work as well as a regular manual automotive stethoscope. It's lowest range of hearing is one hundred Hertz, and much of the noise I am listening for is below that level. It would probably be better if you need to listen to Higher pitched Noises.

The only way I can get this to work is to have the headphones slightly out if the jack. It’s not ideal though because the slightest movement and it falls out. How do I get this fixed, should I return it or what options do I have? Rated one star for now because I really can’t use it without the headphones falling out of the jack.

I have hearing aids. So I needed something to go over my hearing aids ( head phones ).

Received item today. Fast delivery but one small item missing. The battery which make the item work. Package should have been checked before shipment. Another note is that this package was unsealed which made it easy for someone to remove the battery. For that I will only give a 3 star.

Awesome diagnosis tool. A lot better than the regular mechanic stethoscope. Highly recommend it.
