Amazing, Incredible Baseball Glove
I just received this Wilson A800 12.5" baseball mitt from Amazon in it's incredible fast delivery fashion. I swear they have a UPS truck parked around the corner. The reason for my quick review is that right out of the box my immediate impression was WOW!!, what a mitt. I am starting to have second thoughts as I originally bought this for a Christmas gift for my 10 year old grandson. Now I am thinking of digging out my old baseball cleats and taking up the game again and joining the AARP Major League. This mitt is incredible. I got the mitt on one of those "lightening deals" for right about $48. The regular price was only about $3 to $5 more if I recall, like $51-$53. When I checked a few days later the price fluctuation had increased to $58. Let me tell you even at $58 this is a great buy for this glove. Heck, the gloves I bought over the 40 plus years when I played baseball were not the quality of this one, and some of those were also Wilson's. A note here to beginner Amazoner's is that prices for products constantly change not only day to day but hour to hour and some times substantially so. Having said that my review is based solely on first impression without playing catch with someone, but I have played enough baseball in my day and have owned a number of gloves to be able to judge and evaluate one without test driving it so to speak.. Naturally because this is new it must go through the rigors of it's break in period to become more supple and flexible, (an oxymoron). Like a fine wine as this glove ages it will get better. Considering it is brand new the glove it is amazingly soft and flexible already. Over time with a little Neats Foot oil treatment or other leather treatment like Lexol, it will get even get more soft and flexible. I'm telling you the quality and workmanship in this glove is amazing. The stitch rows are so true it's like pin stripping on a Rolls Royce, no wavering. The stitch rows run perfectly parallel to each other. The color of the glove I received was a very rich dark brown color, and the smell of the new leather ( Cheyenne Penny leather) is wonderful, like a new car smell. The leather windings and stitching are done perfectly and it very soft supple leather, not dried out. The yellow Wilson Logo is not embossed, it is actually of yellow thread stitching carefully sewn into the glove. I know some of you are wondering how big is this 12.5" glove?. Will it fit my little league son age 6. My answer is any glove on a 5-7 yr old little leaguer looks huge, doesn't it. I coached for 20 years, I know of what I speak. This glove will definitely be overkill and problematic for a T-baller. Lets face it how many 6yr old Little leaguers make Willie Mays catch's with any kind of glove. As long as the 6yr old keeps his elbow bent and his hand pointing skywards this glove should stay on his hand. If money is no object buy it for him. If he doesn't lose it or forget it and leave it at the baseball field he will grow into it over the years and have it a very long time, into adulthood. To put things in perspective I am 6'4" and 220 lbs with large hands. The hand strap is adjustable, but as the glove arrived to me out of the box when I put it on part of hand stuck out about an 1.5" up from my wrist. With a little twisting and pulling I could have wiggled my hand into the glove, like trying to pull on a partial laced up boot. I did not want to stretch it out any as it is the intended gift to my grandson with smaller hands. If I had to state factually who should be wearing this glove I would have to say in all honestly, probably a High School baseball player or adult, but in the same breath I do not think it is going to be a problem either for my 10 year old Little Leaguer grandson. If it is slightly large the old trick was to wear a baseball bat glove on the hand then place the hand into the glove to take up any gaps or lose fit, rather than mess with the adjustable lace hand strap. This would be an amazing softball glove, but absolutely can be used for hardball as well due to flexibility of the web and the size of the mitt. I would have given this glove a 6 star rating but it is not offered. I did not read the reviews of 1,2,3,4 star rating people, but as the old saying goes "you can't make everyone happy" Hope my feedback has been helpful. Merry Christmas to all.

Good price
Might become a good glove but I am having a hard time breaking it in. I coach middle school kids and they have trouble catching with it. Nice price for this kind of glove but not field ready after a month of practice.

This looked like the charm
Just wanted a simple glove to play catch. It won't be used much so I wanted something already broken in. This looked like the charm. However it is as hard as a rock. I oiled it but it will still require a substantial break in period. This is not what I expected. The glove itself is good but it is hardly soft and ready to go.

Good glove but size is travel ball not adult.
Just received the glove and it is too small. The age is travel ball not adult. The glove seems good quality just would not fit my hand.

Great mitt!
Great mitt!! Soft leather right out of the box!...Great price on this for the value...I received the mitt yesterday, smothered it with a few rounds of hand lotion and worked the pocket in with my fist...been folding it back in forth and squeezing it like ringing out a wet towel...will practice with it today, and use it in a men's softball game two days from now God willing...I wear adult XL batting gloves and the fit is just fine...Will be using it for Outfield play in softball and baseball...I could see using it for the infield in men's softball as well if needed...This is what I call a utility player mitt in that it can be used for any position...I highly recommend this mitt for someone who is on a time crunch, or someone looking for a decent price for good leather....The only complaint is that it is NOT MADE IN THE UNITED STATES.

Awesome glove
Good price, good leather feel, good look, and good price for this glove. My 14 year old loves it. He had a 10" one and still an awesome glove which now my 10 year old is using. this one is a 12.5" and fits my 14 year old perfectly. He plays pitcher, 3rd base, out field and 1st base. The only time he takes the glove off is when playing that 1st base.

Great glove for baseball and slow pitch softball
The glove is well made and pretty much ready to use --very easy to break in. I bought this glove to play catch with my 12 yr old and to play slow pitch softball in co-ed team. I play 3rd base and outfield and this glove performs exceptionally well even with a softball. No complains, reasonably priced, fast shipment, and hopefully will last a while.
